About
Aloha and welcome to Mauis Garden Of Eden Arboretum. An Arboretum is a park dedicated to trees. We also feature hundreds of lowland rainforest species of flowers, shrubs, and ground covers as well.We began this project in1991 with 30 acres of densely overgrown jungle, now after investing more than 20yrs of physical labor and 2 million dollars, we have created one of Hawaii's most visited botanical gardens. We have many plants found nowhere else or are uncommon to Hawaii, such as rare Amazon fruits and medicinal species, endangered hardwoods, spice, exotic nut trees, ferns and so much more...A botanical Disneyland with over 2 miles of maintained graveled walking trails...A truly educational facility with over 700 plants botanically labeled. Try to allow at least 45 minutes to explore. We feature great views and photo opportunities but no direct access to the waterfall or pools. If you are only interested in restrooms (we now have improved facilities) You can do so for free 2 miles down the road.A portion of your entry fee is donated to the nature conservatory. The cost to keep our gate open averages $1,000/dy so we sincerely thank you for your support,,,especially those who have contributed beyond our entry fee. Most botanical gardens have teams of volunteers and use chemicals to curb costs. Our entire staff are well paid professionals, and we are almost entirely a chemical free park. Thank you for visiting, we do take your comments to heart

- MsVicFrisco, Texas614 contributionsPerfect Stop on Hana Hwy!Oh what a treat this place was! It costs a nominal fee to go into the botanical park but so worth it! Plus the $$ you spend goes back into the upkeep of the gardens so a very worthy cause! Inside you will find many trails to walk and see a little of everything the rainforest offers in one spot. Perfect views of a waterfall along with the ocean and many different types of vegetation, They have grouped and organized the area very well so each trail takes you to see something different. My favorite was the bamboo forest which sounded like creaking doors in the wind- it was An incredible experience! We had a yummy snack at the coconut cafe and the banana nut bread was some of the best I’ve ever had. Make sure and get the fresh squeezed pineapple juice- so tasty! - Joe PEstes Park, Colorado303 contributionsNice stop to stretchLots of places along the road to Hana to stop. Almost all of them are free. The Garden of Eden charges $15 per head. So why would I recommend it? The place is beautiful. It is very well kept up. They have an abundance of easily negotiated trails, and a guide map to find your way around. And, maybe because of the admission fee, its quiet and peaceful, not crowded. I saw some reviews that indicated they were turned off by the entrance fee. We felt it was worth it.Mahalo for your review, Joe! We're thrilled that you enjoyed your visit with us! We hope to see you again in the future! - kaylub_6Lynnwood, Washington6 contributionsBeautifulWe visited on a nice sunny afternoon on our way back from Hana. I was hesitant about the $15 entry fee per person but as the time went by during our visit I actually might have paid more. To be clear, this is nature, lots of interesting and beautiful plants and awesome views so some may not find it exciting. BUT, one of the main reasons you visit Maui is to enjoy the natural beauty. If you are driving the road to Hana and enjoying all of the natural beauty this is a great stop to add and worth exploring the interesting trees/plants/views/animals in Eden!Mahalo for your review! - Nicole W1 contributionNOT WORTH 20 DOLLARS PER PERSON FEE- TOTAL RIP OFFI wish I could give this place a zero review. Yesterday we stopped by there on the way to Pipiwa Trail. In these hard economic times they charged 20 dollars per person for absolutely zero , zilch . The map they gave us was no help at all. Visitors beware, save your money and do not waste your time at this place. There are so many more worthwhile places to visit that are much better than this so called Garden of Eden.Visited August 2022Written August 31, 2022
- Konstantin MNew York27 contributions$20pp - Not Worth for the PriceDefinitely a waste of time on our trip of Road to Hana. $20 per PERSON entry is too much in our opinion for what there was there. The maps and signage that’s around the garden is not necessarily correct and forces you to waste a lot of time walking around. We saw other people confused as well. Skip the trip and long wait to get in. Also under no circumstance buy food from their food shack before you leave. We ordered a smoothie and saw them put frozen fruit in our drink. The fruit looked like it had similar packaging from Costco. We’re in Hawaii and can’t even get fresh fruit? Food and drinks were expensive for what they were. Tourist trap and ripoff. Only gave 2 stars because the views were amazing, however still not worth the price.Visited August 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten October 3, 2021

The entry fee of $15 was more than worth it! 2 1/2 miles of fascinating trails.. breathtaking sometimes in its beauty! Woods.. banyan trees, mango groves, huge bamboo trees of all colors, rainbow eucalyptus trees, waterfalls, unique colorful flowers and peacocks too! Entrance is $20 a person, and for thay ou get to see the same flora and views you could see from the road to Hana for free. There were a few lovely lookout points, but alas, you can see that type of view from the road... I was surprised by the lack of blooming flowers; this could be because we went in March. Go if you like small woody hikes and views.Visited March 2023Written March 27, 2023

This was one of the highlights of our Road to Hana day trip. As well as the plants there are some fantastic views of the coast and some waterfalls. Thought this was a little pricey for the time we spent here. However, you could easily spend half a day hiking all the trails and certainly get your money's worth! We did get out at the rock and waterfall and walked around for a bit. Our kids loved seeing the peacocks! We drove by last year & didn't stop but thought we’d try on our road-trip back through this year. It was overcast that day & not too hot, by the time we stopped in early afternoon. Despite all the recent torrential rains & flooding Maui had, there was some muddy areas and 1 of the paths was closed.
Otherwise, everywhere was walkable and pretty to see the different flowers, plants and trees. We saw the ducks and the peacocks, didn’t feed either ones. It was a nice walk on a pleasant day with my husband.
We were there just under 2 hours & scenery such as ocean & waterfalls below was pretty. We didn’t purchase any gifts/food. The bathrooms were basic and there were a couple areas with picnic tables.

The attractions here are viewable on the road to Hana but you are paying $20 a person to see those same views. Our family of 5 spent more time in the bathrooms than walking through this place. Save your money and enjoy the free walking paths before and after this tourist trap. Would never recommend to friends or family.

Warning!!! This is a complete ripoff @ $20 per person with nothing special to see and do. There are much better locations with better scenery down the road to Hana including free admission arboretum. Don’t waste your precious time and money. Absolutely a must skip on your road to Hana!!!!

Aloha,
The gift shop tries to align their business hours with the Garden's, however, they are a separate entity. Feel free to contact the gallery at their GMAIL address: gardengallery60 *Tripadvisor will not allow us to post their email address in full form.

Hi
You may not be able to go everywhere but you will be able to see a lot. There is handicap and senior parking next to the restroom.
You won t be able to get in the gift and art shop..
A lot will depend on the weight of the chair and the ability of the caretaker. If I was in a wheel chair
I would def return.

Hello. I'll be travelling with my 10 year old daughter. Is there enough there to keep kids interested? How long do you recommend allocating to get a decent (but not completely thorough tour)? Are the falls here any better than on the road to Hana? Thanks!
Garden-Management
Maui, HI
Aloha,
We recommend a minimum of an hour at our attraction. We have 26 acres, and 2.5 miles of walking trails to explore. A large portion of our plants are labeled, featuring an educational element to your visit with us. We provide you with a map upon entering, and you explore at your own leisure. We recommend bringing quarters for our duck food machines if your daughter has an interest in feeding peacocks and muscovy ducks out of her hands! Of course we are subjective with respect to our waterfalls! We offer exclusive vantage points of the valley featured in the opening scene of the film, Jurassic Park. The two waterfalls visible from our property are Upper and Lower Puohokamoa Falls (160+ ft).
We look forward to seeing you, and please don't hesitate with further questions.

Are people allowed to touch the animals?
Garden-Management
Maui, HI
We really only have ducks and peacocks which eat out of your hand. Some are tame enough to pet. And then there is Dan D. Lion the garden friendly doggie. He loves to be petted and is extremely friendly.
What we don't appreciate is when kids chase the ducks and peacocks trying to touch them.
Mahalo for your interest in our facility.

How long did you spend at this arboretum? How long would you recommend allotting for this attraction on the road to Hana? We are planning a large group trip on the road to hana which takes a very long time, and we want to stop here but are concerned about scheduling.
Garden-Management

Allow at least 30-45 minutes. Photographers and those choosing to picnic may wish to stay longer. Many of our visitors choose to go no further as some experience difficulty with the Hana Hwy.
Thank you for you interest and sorry about the delay in answering. Our internet was down due to several large windstorms. Groups of 10 or more may enter @ $10/person.
