our Group of six wanted to do a hicking tour to the waterfalls off the road to Hana. Kyle was prompt picking us up and did an excellent job of taking care of everything. The hike was a little strenuous at times but Kyle was attentive and took good care of everyone on our tour. We enjoyed the hike and swimming in the lagoon by the waterfalls. He had towels for us to use to dry off after and water along the hike. On our way back we stopped to enjoy the surfing competition and see the huge turtles. Enjoyed the day and our tour guy! Would recommend for others looking for a good strenuous hike

My friend and I stayed at the Grand Wailea for a girls trip. My first time to Maui. One of the guests had mentioned they had done a tour with Maui Paradise Tours and that we should definitely give them a call. Not really a "tour" person myself, but my friend talked me into it and I'm so glad she did. Our guide "Jeb" was so knowledgeable about the island. From it's history to the best place to go to have a cold beer. And it doesn't hurt that he has a great wit about him and kept things fun as well as teaching us about the Island. He had many wonderful recommendations of sites to see. One fun stop was the Lavender Farm. Truly an awesome day. Thank you Jeb and Maui Paradise Tours for making it a 5 star trip.

My family of 6 (kids ages 20, 17, 14 and 9) took the Road to Hana tour with Jeb our tour guide and had a memorable day. The key to the Road to Hana is to remember that its the journey and not the destination that is the key to the expedition. In other words, there's not much to see when you get to Hana but there are great sights along the way/ Our tour guide Jeb was a great guy, a little eccentric but who wouldn't want that on a drive that has over 600 hairpin turns and over 50 single lane bridges. One minute Jeb was telling us about old Hawaiian folktales and the next minute he was jumping under a water fall to swim with my kids. Highlights of the trip was the black sand beach, the lava tube and blow holes at Wai'anapanapa State Park but the absolute best was the secret cave swimming hole where we dove in and learned the legend of the Hawaiian princess, Popoalaea. We also loved the stop at Aunty Sandy's Banana Bread stand which was outstanding and also very accommodating to my son who has a severe tree nut/peanut allergy. Unfortunately there is just not enough time to stop and see everything along the way but we were more than satisfied. Jeb finished the trip off with a stop at Ho'okipa Beach Park, where at sunset, the Sea Turtles come up on the shore for all to see. It's a long, exhausting day but a definite must for everyone visiting Maui. The only downside of our tour was that our touring van was actually a Honda Odyssey mini-van that was a taxi that sounded like it was barely starting every time we got back in from a sight to keep the tour going (the engine light was on the entire ride). However, it was kinda funny to be on the Road to Hana in a taxi and it did add to the adventure to never be sure whether the van was going to start. Fortunately it did. Big props to Jeb though who was a good sport throughout the trip.

We had a private tour but were massively disappointed and couldn't wait to get out of the car when it was finished. In all honesty the trip may be a good one but our guide was awful and we both withdrew and wanted the day to end early. I would definitely not recommend this tour. The guide was awful; and it was a waste of our flights to Maui and the cost of the trip. I tipped the guide at the end - out of good manners, definitely not for good service. He said he had been living on Maui for about 6 years and was previously from one of the other US states. He was supercilious, arrogant and rude, did not pay attention to what we were interested in, kept on pushing us to stop at things he wanted (like local ice-cream, food, food, trinkets). I am not a fan of tours that try to force you to go to places where they can on-sell or that concentrate on what the guide wants (that's why we took a private tour). I have no idea if the guide was getting a kick back from these places, but it felt like it He made a big song and dance of saying how 'sensitive' he was to the traditions etc, but was offensive at guided sights - removing a coconut from one and telling the local people who ran the site that he wanted it to show us coconuts (that despite me telling him at least 4 times before that I didn't want it, and that I have seen and eaten many coconuts !!!). He removed tea tree leaves off trees at the same sight showing us how the Hawaiians would purify before entering the temple area (and wanted us to do it for a 'bit of fun'). I was disgusted - he could have simply told us the story, not stripped leaves off the tree, or with his sensitivity calling someone else's beliefs 'a bit of fun'. He lacked respect. He spent nearly all the time when he was driving stuffing his face, and putting tea tree oil on a stye he had on his eye - I like tea tree, but the car was like a pharmacopia and the smell overwhelming. I realise it may not be indicative of the company's overall performance, but I would suggest if you are thinking about going with this tour group that you ask for details about the guide and their credentials. We took a tour on big Island Hawaii with Josh of Mauka Makai Adventures. He was born and grew up on the island. The difference could not have been more obvious.

Response from MPTManagement, Owner at Maui Paradise Tours
Responded Sep 9, 2017
This review was done for a tour that occurred in May of this year and under the previous owner of the company, so I can't really respond to anything in particular. I did reach out to the person and offered to give them a free tour next time they are in Maui. It is strange though that if the tour was going so poorly for them from the start that either during the tour or shortly after the tour they did not reach out to the owner and ask either for a refund or for a new tour with a different guide. Also, I find it strange that they would wait over 4 months to leave such a negative review. Either way, free tour is still on table.

Another couple booked two back-to-back day tours with my wife and I during our 2 day stop in Maui as a part of our weeklong Norwegian Cruise. We were picked up outside the ship and on time departing and returning both days. Our tour was customized according to what we had interest in, more than the average tour. It was just the four of us one day, and only 1 other couple the second day. We loved the small group tour in the minivan, as opposed to a large tour bus atmosphere. We visited many great sights and took tons of great pics. Great tour company who catered to our needs from reservations to getting us back to the cruise ship on time(always a concern to get left behind if book an excursion outside the cruise line and return after the announced departure time)!
