We just came back from the afternoon cruise, March 4, 2020 on Liko Kauai Cruises , Na Pali Kai III
It’s was super fun, with gorgeous views of the Napali Coast dramatic scenery and lots of whale and dolphin sightings. The captain was so skilled he was able to take us right into one of the caves, before stopping for snorkeling and lunch in a quiet spot. On the return trip dolphins swam right alongside the boat and we had to choose between watching them or all the whales close by. The crew were very friendly, knowledgeable and fun. We’d highly recommend Liko Kauai Cruises for Napali Coast boat trips.

We took the Na Pali Kai III sunset boat cruise on January 16, 2020. The Crew and Captain were excellent , they made this boat cruise one of the best I’ve ever been on. They pointed out sea turtles, dolphins, whale and brown footed boobies as well as albatrosses. The Captain took us into coves and the kids got to get wet by a waterfall. The snorkeling was excellent and the captain and crew made sure we had all the equipment that we needed. we saw a variety of fish and sea turtles. The sandwiches and cookies were amazing. We saw humpback whales and dolphins multiple times and the Captain made sure that we had time to really enjoy the whole experience. The bonus was when the crew caught 2 large fish at the end of the cruise. Our friends had been on a Na Pali coast cruise last year with another company and they said this was the best! We loved it great experience!

This trip was a beautiful trip and we saw some whales too. The trip was a lot of fun and the two guys who were on the boat told us a lot of fun facts and were always making sure we were ok and enjoying ourselves. We even got to hear humpbacks within a 5 mile radius and that was amazing. Any whales that they could spot they pointed them out. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable trip :)

This trip was outstanding!! The boat was clean & they were conscientious about our safety. They checked often to be sure we weren’t feeling seasick. They had a cooler full of water and soda. Lunch was a very large sandwich and bakery made cookies which were fantastic. On to the point if the cruise—we saw whales, whales & more whales some from a far distance and many closer up. Dolphins!! Goats. The scenery is unimaginable & very hard to have perspective on how tall and large the coastal formations are. The crew was super informed and educational. Highly recommend!!!!

Don’t visit Kauai without a tour of the Napoli Coast. And Liko’s is the only company to use. My family and I have used them 4 times over the years, and we are never disappointed. Thank you, Shawn, for being the best guide ever! Your knowledge of the Hawaiian history and culture really added to the trip. Mahalo!!

I thought i would write this review as we struggled to find any boat company that would allow us to bring our 10 month old on a boat trip to see the Napali Coast via the Sea.
It is a personal choice for parents to take their baby on a boat, but we have done several adventures with our little one and are a bit more relaxed about it. However, after being told 'no' by over 4 places we almost gave up hope. Liko Kauai was great about it and we had a fantastic trip. The swells were big, but our baby basically just slept through it.
we saw Humpbacks breaching off the side of the boat, dolphins swimming and the coast was amazing. Rob and Mike were great hosts and were super nice to our little one when she woke up!
So, if you are with an infant in Kauai, you don't need to be confined to your hotel room. Get out and see the coast with this great outfit!

Absolutely loads of fun! Booked the sightseeing/snorkel cruise to the NaPali coast. They try to keep their group to a minimum and the boat is situated such that you are able to sit on benches and face forward. We stuck the kids in the forward bench and they had great fun being sprayed by seawater. We saw turtles, and dolphins and tons of fish. This is not solely a 'snorkeling' cruise, although they do stop to snorkel for 45 mins but sightseeing is the main venue, therefore this was a great ride for the very young and the very old. They provide full snorkel gear, and you can enjoy a great deli lunch (it's catered) while others are snorkeling so you can eat if you chose not to snorkel. I would recommend the morning tour as the sea gets rougher in the afternoon. If you are prone to seasickness, such as I, I took dramamine after an hour -into- the trip and was fine for the duration. My sister in law took hers at the beginning, and felt no ill sideaffects of the drug or sea. I would highly recommend this tour if you are traveling with a mixed group of kids and adults, especially for those who don't want to snorkel. There were 19 of us ranging from 6 through 75 years old and we all had a lot of fun! The kids said the boat ride was the best part of the trip! Some crew members grew up in Kauai and are very knowledgeable about the island.

Husband and I chose Liko Kauai to see the Na Pali coast because it left from the small boat harbor in Waimea, rather than Port Allen, so we had less distance to travel before reaching the coast. Also, since we stayed in Lihue, it was closer than driving up to the North Shore.
We booked the afternoon tour because we've been on morning boat trips before, and were looking for something different. We actually really enjoyed it -- although the water is supposed to be rougher in the afternoon, the light on the cliffs in the late afternoon is gorgeous. We also got to see the sun setting over the water right next to Ni'ihau (the forbidden island) -- went from 2:30-7:30 p.m.
The boat isn't anything super special -- just rows of seats, but they are fairly comfortable and there is a restroom on board. Mike and Mindy (our crew) were nice and informative. They made sure to point out interesting sights, explain history behind things, and pointed out a mountain goat way up high and a monk seal on a rock shelf. The boat is also small enough that we were able to motor into two sea caves, which was VERY cool.
There were probably only about 25 people on the boat, so it wasn't too crowded. The snorkeling wasn't great (not much to see), but the views of Na Pali were worth the money. At $300 for the two of us, it's not the cheapest trip we found, but not the most expensive either. The food provided was good, but I think they ran low, and there was plenty of soda/juices and yummy, huge chocolate chip cookies for the trip back.
We would heartily endorse Liko Kauai to anyone looking for a good trip up the Na Pali coast -- the only reason they didn't get five stars is because of the seating structure and that the boat didn't have a trampoline (my favorite boat feature).

Our family of four (parents, kids 10 and 13) took a daytime cruise with Liko Kaui on March 19th, 2007. We had a wonderful time -- although my daughter and husband did feel a bit seasick, even though we all took Dramamine. Some folks are just more sensitive than others to the boat's motion. We had high swells the day we went out, but we still went far up the Napali coast. The scenery was incredible.
A nice sized boat, with plenty of comfortable seating, much of it under shade. A marine toilet on board, too.
Our captain, Rob, and guide, Mindy were terrific. They gave great narration about the culture, ocean life, etc. We saw spinner dolphins, bottlenose dolphins (not as common to see these), sea turtles, and humpback whales. I liked that he didn't chase down the marine life -- just positioned the boat and waited for the animals to come to us, which the dolphins did.
The deli lunch was delicious -- make your own sandwiches, pasta salad, homemade cookies, plenty of juice and water.
No snorkeling, because of rough seas, but we honestly didn't miss it. It was just nice being on the water (well, my daughter was sort of ready to hit land....).
We highly recommend this tour company. They leave out of the small boat harbor, just past Waimea, so they get to the Napali coast before the boats that leave from Port Allen. Do be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen, including a lip sunscreen!

I wanted to book a tour with them- I have emailed them multiple times, called them, even stopped by their stated address. Never a response, and no-one in the office. Either they are out of business or they genuinely don't care about your business.

How easy is it for an older person to enter the water for snorkeling? Is there a ramp or ladder to enter the water?
Written September 8, 2017
IT was super easy to get into the water--they had little float crafts to make it easier for those who did not want to swim the whole time as well

Do you provide life vests for children, or should I bring some? Also, is it customary to tip at the end of the trip, or is gratuity included in the price?
Thanks!
Written April 14, 2017
Liko provides vests for kids too. We provided a tip at the end of the trip as did others but it is voluntary.

Hi!
Will you be conducting tours late January? If so, what is plan if seas too rough? We are staying in Kapaa. How long would it take to get to you? Family of 8 hoping for tour.
Written December 20, 2016
I'm not the tour I'm a tourist reviewing the tour.

What is Liko's policy if the weather is too rough to visit the Napali coast? Do they just go south instead, or are you allowed to reschedule or cancel?
Written October 10, 2015
I was also told that if the weather made conditions unsafe they wil cancel and attempt to reschedule.
Written October 11, 2015
Hi, which is the safest Napali Coast cruise (no snorkeling)?
Written July 11, 2015
Not much I can add to the above comments, but I will say that if the water is rough, be sure not to sit in the front--there is much more bouncing there.
Nobody forces you to snorkel if you choose not to do so.
A memorable day...for all the right reasons.
