Easy to see why this earned the nickname "the Grand Canyon of the Pacific." I can't believe I hadn't heard of it until going to Kauai. I believe its one of the most underrated, beautiful natural wonders of America. You can drive along the paved path up the canyon, there are plenty of over-looks to pull off to the side... More

Visited here as a must do while in Kauai and were not disappointed. We drove up, stopping regularly to exclaim over the views, at both of the official observation points and many impromptu ones. We then walked the canyon waterfall trail. It was about a 4 mile loop though was pretty arduous, muddy tracks, and when up on the crest... More

But I wasn't a huge fan. Maybe because I'm afraid of heights, or maybe because it wasn't a very clear day, but it didn't blow me away. Yes it was pretty, we were there for the sunrise. I think the biggest shock is that this huge canyon is on this small island. I thought it would be more green, but... More

This was our 3rd visit to the canyon over a 23 year span, but this span never gets tired as a fantastic view. Worth the trip, but be sure to take the first, lesser traveled, road up, and the main road down.

Traveling by pickup truck to the trailhead, we had a great hike to the edge of the canyon and were treated to exhilarating views while enjoying a picnic lunch we packed in.

One, if not the best, place to visit on Kauai !! The sights are amazing, both over the huge canyon, waterfalls, etc but when you get to the end of the 20 mile road, you get spectacular views from the Pu'u O Kila outlook down to the Na Pali coast area. There are numerous hiking trails from moderate to strenuous.... More

The whole park has the kind of raw beauty that’s simply picture-perfect, it can lure you into abandoning any other plans you had for the day. It boasts rugged cliffs in brilliant hues of red, green, brown, and orange. Waterfalls. The natural java plum, monkeypod, and native wiliwili trees ad a touch to the whole experience. Just make sure NOT... More

Took about 50 minutes from Poipu but definitely worth the drive up. Spectacular overlook of the canyon with amazing colors and waterfalls.
