This is the longest drive on Hwy. 550 but it is well worth it...the views here are spectacular. Recommend you drive here first and then work your way back down the canyon...you'll miss a lot of the tourist crush.

This is at the end of the road when driving up to Waimea Canyon. Don't stop at the canyon. Keep on going. You will get to Kalalau Lookout which is beautiful, but keep going to the end Puuo Kila is even better. There are less fences and some hiking trails which let you explore and find different views of the... More

The road, Highway 550, ends at this lookout. This lookout has better views than Kalaulau, that being said, both are dependent upon cloud cover. Best chance for a clear view is early in the morning, prior to the warm-up and trades kicking in. This lookout is also the start of the Pihea Trial.

This is the last lookout at the top of Waimea canyon. The views of the Kalalau Valley are beautiful. We had some rain, but still had a nice view.

Pretty drive up to this spot, but when we arrived mid afternoon there were so many clouds that you couldn't see the view at all. We waited it out for a bit but the clouds didn't move. Seems like it's hit or miss, but in the right conditions we heard it's breathtaking. Definitely going to try again when we return.

What can I say...the view doesn't get any better than this. If I lived here I'd never get any work done. This view is from the top of the canyon drive. Mile marker 18 & 19 have phenomenal lookouts for this Valley...I love it here.

If it is raining or cloudy when you arrive, wait around a while. The view is worth it. The wind will blow and the clouds will part and it is breathtaking.

We went on a only slightly cloudy day and the view was largely obscured by clouds. We waited around for half an hour and eventually got a brief glimpse of most of the view but not the whole thing. I think it's a great activity and we still had fun but I would recommend going on a clear day to... More

My wife and I were hoping to get some good views at this lookout. The first try was useless. The clouds came in and you couldn't see anything. Our second try was a little better, but the clouds and rain came in so we weren't able to see as much as we wanted plus it was chilly up there in... More
