White sand beach about 15 minutes away from Waikoloa Village. Large beautiful beach with great waves. Life guard stations are there and also a place to buy food and rent beach gear. It costs 5 dollars to park. We were there for hours. Not congested at all. Had a wonderful time. The waves were a little to big for our... More

This beach was amazing. The sand was soft, the water was clear and the swimming was great. There was a small shop for beach accessories and snacks and public bathrooms available. It got pretty crowded on a Saturday afternoon, but still plenty of room to lay out and enjoy a peaceful afternoon.

This beach was recommended to us by someone at Hilton Grand vacations and it was an absolute hit. It is a beautiful sand beach with lots of room, fantastic surf, a great sandy bottom, many amenities and rugged surroundings. We stayed until sunset and it was beautiful. The swimming was great and the entire day was so relaxing. There are... More

This is a beautiful white sandy beach for a mile. The waves were great for boogie boarding. There is a place to rent boards, umbrellas and beach chairs ($10 each item) but we found the price cheaper at snorkel bobs at Mauna Lani where we were staying. We did many activities on the big island and my teens ranked the... More

So I tried to get into Mauna Kea Beach at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 2 and they were already full. So I went next door to Hapuna. What a great beach. Why hadnt I been here before in all my previous trips to the Big Island. Wide, pristine sandy beach, calm waters, perfect for laying out or swimming. No big waves... More

White sand beach pretty much - to the southern end is part of Hapuna Beach State Park whereas the northern end is backed by the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel - a huge hotel but nicely nestled in amongst the trees. The northern end had some good snorkelling which gets better and better the further you swim around the point. There's... More

Paid parking lot (there are two) was full by 11am. Nice facilities, and plenty of beach area to enjoy the sun and water.

Just go in knowing it's a busy beach. We had to wait about 5 min and follow someone who was leaving to their car before we could find a space. It's $5 to get in but it's worth the visit. Try to get there early. Bring a lunch, some water and an umbrella if you have one. There are 2... More

Every year when we come to the big island - we make a point of several trips to Hapuna. Huge beach with showers, and concessions available - as well as a place to rent chairs and toys for the beach. Get there early for the best parking ($5). Great boogie boarding beach - and great people watching!

This is a great beach to go. Just need to be careful the swells here can become very dangerous. Just stay close to the shore and you'll be fine. Have fun!!!
