About
Princeville Botanical Gardens is a family owned and operated garden paradise located in the Princeville area on the magnificent north shore of Kauai. Established by The Robertson Family with the help of their close gardening friend Michael in 2001, this 9-acre property has been transformed into a breathtaking garden with dramatic landscaping in two steep valleys. The tour includes homegrown honey and fruit samples, as well as a chocolate tasting that teaches you the history of chocolate making. You'll have fun learning about the uses and folklore of native Hawaiian plants and exotic species from around the world. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. Visitors can experience the garden on pre-scheduled tours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Tours are not recommended for children under 6 years. Moderate mobility is needed to go on our nature walk. Please be sure to call us before visiting. Thank you!

Can’t speak highly enough of our tour of the Princeville Botanical Gardens. So much beauty in one place. Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. Chocolate tasting was fun and informative. My 11 and 14 year old loved it too!

Beautiful setting, VERY knowledgeable guides - Lisa & Tori - tasty chocolate sampling & beautiful day for a walk in a setting akin to Paradise. Thank you for the opportunity - well worth the money.

One of the best values in Princeville! Our guide - Troy from Illinois - was amazing! He was knowledgeable, provided lots of breaks, took pictures, gave a great chocolate tasting experience, and shared many stories. Troy might remember me as the person who introduced him to raw jackfruit's moniker of "tree goat" in my part of India.
The gardens was built with great care by the original couple who bought the valley property, and built it up slowly with the help of designer Michael Wise. They recently sold it to a new owner. We saw such a profusion of flora - Musanda, Monkey-No-Climb tree, Pride of Burma, Giraffes's knees, and tasted a breadfruit, but avoided tasting the pungent noni fruit.
Highly recommend.

This was a really nice walk through a beautiful private garden with a friendly guide punctuated with tastings of native fruits, honey, and chocolate. The whole family, including our teens, really enjoyed it. A bit too much on the garden owners and not enough detail on some of the plants, but have to stretch to complain about a really nice time.

Fantastic experience, starting with early emails to JanMarie hoping to get spots in an already booked up time window. She was responsive, empathetic, and eventually found us a day that worked.

From arrival to departure, it's a well run operation. Small and friendly, but super efficient. Fantastic guides, rock star views and experience. Even the chocolate tasting was made into a fun experience, similar to a wine tasting, with guides and learning.

A must do Kauai experience!

One caveat, be aware there are some steep hills you'll be walking up. Nothing treacherous, and they pace them nicely, but if you are not comfortable with steep hills and stairs, then not for you.

This tour was absolutely beautiful! The staff was prepared for the rain and provided walking sticks and umbrellas. Troy was so knowledgeable and engaging, my teens who are more into adventure type tours were (surprisingly) not bored at all! I highly recommend!!

The gardens were absolutely amazing and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. Although I am not a chocolate fan, those in my group who ate the chocolate LOVED it. My only suggestion would be that they add in the tasting of the actual cacao fruit, which is an amazing experience in itself.

Beautiful and packed with information. Good tour for those looking for a laid back experience. Not ideal for teens, as they will likely be bored.

My family and I visited this past week and enjoyed touring the garden. Although it rained, we had a great time. Our tour guide was very informative and funny. We enjoyed tasting the local fruit that are grown right on the grounds, and were even lucky enough to see and taste real cocoa. Thank you to all at Princeville Botanical Gardens for helping to make this family trip a memorable one.
