Captain Tara.. this lady gives new meanings to hospitality, educating her guests, and authentic integrity. I cannot say enough good things about our whale watching adventure with her. My husband and three teenagers made up our group of 5 to go out on this particular excursion. I knew it was a smaller boat going in. However, I did not realize just how up close and personal we were able to get to one another, as well as the captain. Upon my first look at this boat I’m thinking, “ok, where are we all supposed to sit?” Captain Tara demonstrates that fairly quickly. You sit sideways on the side of the boat, grab onto the rope and do not let go! Lol.. As she got to know us and how adventurous we truly are, she adjusted the ride to accommodate. She knows just where to look for whales. Because it is late season, I wasn’t expecting much in the way of whale sightings. As a marine biologist, Captain Tara specializes in the education of these amazing animals. Being that it is a smaller boat, we were able to stay fairly close to the shore. We were also more able to venture out far enough to get as up close and personal with the baby whales and their mommas without disturbing them. Captain Tara provided drinks, snacks and fresh pineapple when we stopped to enjoy the spectacular sounds of the male whales singing, using an underwater microphone. I would absolutely book this tour again, if I ever get to come back to this beautiful island. I would give this review 20 circles (stars) if I could! I will remember and treasure this day for many years to come :)
