We arrived in the morning and witnessed a number of surfers including young ones out there catching a wave. Cliffs nearby that will likely have Cliff divers later. A fairly rocky beach but great for people watching. If you want to sit in a chase...More

Shipwreck is a visually stunning beach. The swimming here is a bit better than other nearby beaches (more underlying sand) but be careful with the currents.

Watching the cliff jumpers here is amazing and hiking the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail that begins here was the highlight of our trip. Hang out and don't miss the sunset! NOT for swimming but just enjoying a beach day on a towel/tent with a picnic and...More

I say Shipwreck Beach is a 'hidden gem' because it lies directly behind the Hyatt Regency, Poipu. Unless you've stayed there, or explore hotels on the island you may not be aware of the sprawling lawns leading to the hotel property and the lovely beach...More

We went to this beach 3 different times we were there. It's awesome. There are some waves here (unlike Poipu) so the kids could play around in them. One afternoon they were particularly rough so we stayed out of the water. Just be smart and...More

Take the trail walk up to the cliffs overlooking the ocean from this beach. Gorgeous and not strenuous. The beach is family friendly.

This hike starts at the grand Hyatt and is really beautiful. It goes along cliffs near the ocean. It is fun for people of all ages and moderate difficulty. It goes along a golf course on the other side. It is really pretty and great....More

We had GPS, but still managed to drive right by the entrance road a couple of times before we found the beach, which is adjacent to the Hyatt Grand Resort on the south end of Kauai. There is a small parking lot right at the...More

We came here one day. Nice and fairly quiet in the early morning. Only a handful of others there. Saw a monk seal laying on beach. The surf is rougher, not a beach for little kids to play in the water. Husband went snorkelling and...More

Beautiful view. A public beach that is also private and intimate. See us there in photos In background is a cliff Harrison Ford jumped off in a movie filmed there.

I don't think you would have any issues with parking if you can walk a little bit. Flat road, a parking lot across from the beach and lots of roadways. We walked there from hotel or rode our bikes.

Agree. Poipu Beach. Keep in mind the currents do change so ask the life guards for safety information. It's usually posted but the lifeguards are so open to communicating information.

Drive past the Hyatt and take the road to the right between the Hyatt and the golf course. Shipwreck Beach parking lot is at the end.
