One of our favorite stops on Kauai. We had a great guide and learned so much. The gardens are spectacular. Well worth the time.

We had a fantastic tour with an excellent guide called Mike. The gardens and location are stunning but if you are dreaming of a lovely light meal in a beautiful house whilst watching the sunset, think again! The reality was a very poor limited meal...More

Allerton Garden is a unique location on the island of Kauai. As a non-profit garden, the cost is significant. Yet the experience is worth it. Splurge and take the tour followed by dinner. The original Jurassic Park was filmed in a number of garden locations....More

We really enjoyed our guided tour with Amanda. She was informative and encouraged us to touch plants, taste pomelo, and helped the group all get good photos of highlights without getting in each other’s way. Would have loved to stay for hours more and explore...More

Bobby N was an excellent guide. He identified every plant I asked about and knew the areas of origin as well. If you expect to be on island awhile, buy a membership at the entrance for discounts to various US gardens and free admissions to...More

The overall tour was a bit disappointing since it seemed to be more of a walk in the woods rather than a informative tour of unique Hawaiian plants. While the gardens may be performing vital work to preserve historic and unique plants, we did not...More

An enjoyable 2.5 hour tour of a unique garden paradise. Not so much a floral garden but rather a living museum of curated plants, sculptures and water features laid out in distinct outdoor garden rooms. Paul was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide.

Pricey (especially for Canadians) but we thought worth it....they are working on obtaining a serving liquor licence so the “beverages” are water and juice. Stephen our guide was informative, entertaining and willing to answer all questions the group threw at him. There were approx. 15-17...More

This was expensive BUT the money supports this beautiful, unspoiled spot. The tour guide was knowledgable and entertaining. I saw plants i've never experienced before. It was a wonderful way to spend two hours.

Due to the terms of the trust in charge of the garden, the guided tour is the only way to see the Allerton Garden. Even though the tour is $60 per person, the 2 hour tour of the garden is well worth it! You get...More

Well, if the cruise ship doesn’t have island excursion shuttles, you can perhaps try an Uber. The drive from the port in Lihue to the garden is roughly 20-30 minutes. It’s not a big island

The Allerton McBride botanical gardens or up near Poipu. I believe the crew ship ports in Lihue. There may be an excursion bus that takes you up to this garden, ask the activities director

You might want to consider which is closer, Princeville is on the north end of the island, Allerton/McBride on the south end. We stayed in Poipu and went to Allerton, really enjoyed the tour, history, etc. - and it was only... More
