My wife and I just completed the triple Trail waterfall adventure tour, and had an absolute blast. I really didn't expect us to do more than drive the Teryx, 4 x 4 machines down various wide dirt roads, but I was wrong. This tour included some fairly moderate trails through the jungle as well as the planes and everything in between. I believe we went approximately 14 miles with two or three stops. Our guides uncle giggles and boo-boo were full of humor and made this a great trip. They're also full of knowledge about the island and you can ask them almost anything and get a comprehensive answer. Be warned, you will get extremely dirty and your clothes will probably be permanently stained so plan accordingly. If you take this particular tour, which I highly recommend, you ended a waterfall where you can jump in and swim and somewhat clean off so it's not so bad.
Again, I think the additional cost for taking this tour over the regular tour is well worth it.

This was a heck of a ride. We loved it and even our 16 year old got off his phone! But, be wary of the time of year you’ve booked this. We went on a VERY rainy day in January, which makes this tour a whole different animal. The crew that guided us worked their butts off to make sure nobody disappeared along the way. Hats off to these guys, they were fantastic.
We chose the waterfall/Jurassic tour and the cloud cover only allowed for one of the waterfalls.
Overall, an exhilarating, nerve-wracking, hell of a ride through the middle of the island!
In January, we recommend this ride for older teens and capable adults. In the summer, you could probably have a blast with younger kids.
One of the best tours on the island. Get there!
Special recognition goes out to Ryan and Cuz Marley for taking care of our family!

We did the waterfall triple trail expedition. We loved that we got our own ATV, which was in great shape. The place itself runs like a very well-oiled machine - they are very organized, very friendly, and very knowledgeable. Kipu Ranch itself is beautiful. Believe them when they say that you will get dirty! We expected this and it didn't bother us at all, but there were some on our tour that were catching flights after (and had already checked out of their hotels). The only con - we were a little disappointed that the tour felt very "stop and go" because of the people who were driving in front of us. We really weren't able to go a consistent speed throughout the tour because of this. But, I think this will greatly depend on who is driving in front of you. We loved the tour overall, thought the company itself was wonderful, and would recommend the tour to others.

This was our favorite activity on Kauai! The scenery is breathtaking and the guides really knew their history and were so entertaining!! My husband loved driving the ATV— they really let you have fun with it. Definitely intermediate trails. We got up to 25-30mph
We’ll recommend this to all our friends and bring our kiddos next time (7 & 10)!!

If you’re craving adventure and jaw-dropping scenery, the Kipu Ranch UTV excursion is a must while in Kauai! This tour offers the perfect mix of adrenaline, nature, and entertainment, making it one of the highlights of our trip.
The guides? Absolute gems! They were hilarious, super personable, and had the whole group laughing from start to finish. They also provided clear, helpful demonstrations at the beginning to ensure everyone felt confident handling the UTVs, whether you were a first-timer or a seasoned driver.
The terrain was stunning—a perfect snapshot of Hawaii’s wild beauty. We drove through four different trails, each offering its own unique challenges and views. From lush green valleys to rugged hills and open pastures, the variety kept things exciting. The UTVs were powerful and handled the terrain like champs, making the moderate difficulty accessible but still thrilling.
One of the best parts was the opportunity to switch drivers along the way. It gave everyone a chance to take the wheel and let the passengers snap plenty of photos. Trust me, you’ll want to capture the breathtaking landscapes!
The guides also kept us entertained with stories about the many movies and TV shows filmed at Kipu Ranch. Standing in spots where Jurassic Park and Lost were filmed made the experience feel even more special—it’s like driving through a real-life movie set.
Overall, this excursion is an unforgettable way to explore Kauai’s natural beauty and learn a bit of its Hollywood history. Whether you’re an adventure junkie or just looking for a fun way to spend the day, Kipu Ranch delivers!

This was one of the best ATV tours we have gone on. The views were gorgeous, the terrain was so much fun, and the guides were amazing! Kyle and Kemu were great, instructive, comical and very knowledgeable of the ranch and Kauai’s history. This tour was great for all age ranges, as our group consisted of 20-80 year olds.

Amazing experience! Went during the off season, and it rained the day before so it was a muddy mess. That made it all that much more exciting! The vehicles were top notch, and stood up to all the pounding, sliding, and corrected any poor driving judgement. The people who checked us in, the tour guides, and mechanics were all super friendly and helpful. DEFINITELY bring or invest in the $5 poncho... you'll be glad you did!

We went on the ultimate ranch adventure with Kyle and David as our guides. They showed us iconic movie locations, including Jurassic Park, Never Never Land, Lilo & Stitch, and Raiders of the Lost Ark, among others. This was our first ATV tour, with my husband and our two boys— and what an exhilarating and fun experience it was! There were 4 stops total. My husband drove but we got to switch at one of the stops. The views were breathtaking as we navigated the muddy, dusty, and forested terrain of the ranch. The company provided helmets, goggles, scarves for covering our noses and mouths, and snacks. By the end of the tour, we were only a little dusty, and warm washcloths were provided to freshen up afterward.
For anyone trying an ATV tour for the first time, I highly recommend this one. It’s safe and perfect for beginners, offering a chance to enjoy Kauai’s stunning and scenic landscapes.

I had the pleasure of interacting with several exceptional staff members. Crystal provided outstanding assistance during ATV check-in, while Kimo delivered a tour experience that was both informative and entertaining. I also had the opportunity to meet the General Manager, who exhibited remarkable warmth and kindness. Dionne's care and compassion were equally impressive. I highly recommend this establishment.

Ryan and “Cousin Martin” were amazing! They were funny and kind. The check In process was easy they have everything that is needed to keep you safe yet allow you to have fun. They were also a wealth of local knowledge and history as well as movie history made In The area. A tree had fallen by a water fall and they were working so hard so we would be able to get to it by the end of our trip and they were successful! What amazing service! If I ever travel back I will go back to Kipu ranch!! The hot towel at the end was the perfect touch!! And thank you for supporting law Enforcement! You guys are amazing! Did I mention this is amazing!! Amazing amazing!!!

Is this atv tour visually impaired friendly? He has front forward vision but is legally blind from his peripheral vision. Of course he won't be driving I will but wasn't sure on the terrain outside of the atv?

Does anyone have any recommendations on which Kipu Ranch tour - the signature ranch tour versus the triple trail waterfall tour?
Written April 27, 2021
We have done both tours. Movie locations were highlighted on each. The high point overlook on the main tour is beautiful, and the waterfall at the end of the other is beautiful and nice if you’re going on a hot day. The tours are similar in many ways, but also distinct in their endings. I don’t think you can make a “wrong” choice!

This is not a question but wanted to bring attention to the fact that this ride is not permitted for children under 9 years of age. The Kipu Ranch adventures website even states that the child has to be 9 and above. Trip advisor fails to say this requirement in the info. We made a reservation, drove out to the ranch and then found out that this is not for children under 9. The Ranch was kind, friendly, and acknowledge the mistake on trip advisor. We had a sad 6 year old but completely understand why that is the recommenced age. We will be back in 3 years when he is 9 to take the ATV and waterfall tour.

Thanks for pointing that out! :). As my children are all grown, my review didn’t reflect that. I am glad you added to my review so others would know.

Hey, so we are looking to fly over from Honolulu to do a 1:30 tour in May. However I've noticed Uber and Lyft are on the island, but can't service the airport. Saw an old post about a taxi. What are your recommendations in 2019? Thx!!
Written January 27, 2019
We are arriving on a cruise ship. Do you offer transportation from the port for this excursion?
Written January 23, 2019
They don't offer transportation service. I'd suggest getting an Uber/Lyft.

Hi, do you need water shoes to swing on the rope or can you just wear tennis shoes ?
Written November 17, 2018
You can use your shoes if you don’t mind them getting wet.

How strict is the license check? I have one from home, but haven’t brought it on vacation. Will there be an issue if I book now online?
Written August 8, 2018
If you are a licensed driver, from any country, I'm sure it's a non issue. They see travelers from around the world. I wouldn't worry too much. 🤙

What is the best time to take the tour? looking at the 3 hour ranch tour.
Written July 16, 2018
We did the 1:30pm 3 hour ultimate ranch tour because we aren’t morning people. I think it’s just personal preference when you want to go. Make sure to wear something you don’t mind getting dirty. Also, your shoes can get stained by the red dirt/mud if it’s been raining. If you want to do the swing on the ropes and fall into the water, wear water shoes (but make sure it’s closed toe shoes since this is a requirement for the tour). Also, wear bug spray. I got at least 10 mosquito bites from the tour on my legs. All in all, the tour guides made it a fun experience for the family!
