Not really something special, but it was ok. Learned how they are trying to self sustaining. Lots of different vegetation, few animals.

Loved watching my kids feed the pigs. Also enjoyed learning about all the different plants and trees. I would highly recommend this train ride.

I was a little skeptical a train trip on a farm could be interesting but it was! The conductor "tiny" made it enjoyable and a fun to experience. If you are searching for a non beach way to spend a few hours give it a...More

Great family event for kids- My 2 year old son loved the 45 minute review of the native plants and farm with horses, cattle, goats, pigs, and of course more chickens. Went during the week and was relatively empty. Would also advise not sitting behind...More

My 5 year old son enjoyed the train ride at Kilohana. He also liked feeding the wild pigs and goats. Recommended if you are vacationing with family with young children and who love trains.

My wife, son and I had a great time during our visit. We took the railway train tour and it was very informative. Our 3 1/2 year old son loved it and keeps asking to go again.

The train is a bit expensive for what you get. We thought we'd get a history tour with it, but it was only a guy pointing out what plants and farm animals were on the plantation as we rode by. Great for kids under the...More

We've been to Kauai several times but have never taken the train ride at Kilohanna Plantation in Lihue. Too cheesy I thought. Well I was wrong. It was terrific, for adults and children. The train itself was a revelation, an antique open car reminiscent of...More

A fun way to spend an hour while visiting Kilohana Plantation. The tour starts at the train station, where antique sugar cane processing equipment is on display. The train is pulled by a vintage engine, and you ride in repro vintage cars. The cars are...More

Is it easy to get a taxi at this location after doing the train ride?

We had a rental car so we didn't try catching a cab. Since it is close to shops and the restaurant and luau are busy, I would imagine if you called for one it wouldn't take long.

The ride is short, maybe 20 minutes. The train car I was in had wooden benches with backs, but I think the other car had padded seats. Some of our group sat there. The train moves slowly, no jolts or bumps. If mom can make... More
