About
Outfitters Kauai has been making vacations awesome since 1988! Offering you a wide range of activities, including HAWAII’S LONGEST ZIPLINE; Exciting Ocean and River Kayak Tours; Waimea Canyon Downhill Biking Tours; SUP Tours; along with hiking and swimming options for many of our guided adventures. Zipline Tours: On May 1, 2017, Outfitters Kauai launched their newest additions... the 3/4 mile long FlyLine Kauai Zipline, and the Kipu Ranch Visitor Welcome Center. The result is improved and reconfigured Zipline Tour packages, and a new, convenient check-in location. Each zipline tour is unique as our lines vary by size, skill-level, and terrain. Fly with us over lush valleys, tumbling waterfalls and forest canopies — landscapes made famous by movies like Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Indiana Jones. Kayak Tours: If you want to explore the secret beaches and hidden waterfalls of Kauai, Hawaii, look no further than our kayak tours. Outfitters Kauai offers both ocean and river kayaking. Each tour is unique and combines kayaking with additional activities like hiking, snorkeling, swimming, and wildlife viewing. See the famed Na Pali Cliffs, or take a Poipu Whale Watch tour (seasonal). Paddle-Boarding Tours: We invite you to take a standup paddle along a tranquil jungle stream, ringed by the majestic Hau’pu Mountains. The adventure starts with a quick SUP lesson, then you’ll be fitted with a paddle and board that is just the right fit. Outfitters Kauai provides paddlers with top-quality equipment, so you can paddle with ease and get the most out of your adventure. Downhill Bike Tours: Our bike tour takes you alongside what is called “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific” at 3,600 feet on the west side of Kauai. As you wind your way down this geological wonder, you will enjoy panoramic views of crested buttes, amazing waterfalls, rugged crags and deep valley gorges. From the main lookout point, there are dramatic views of Kauai’s lush interior and dazzling ocean coast. Think of this as a nature walk on two wheels, complete with refreshments and information about the culture, history and folklore of Kauai.

We did the Kipu Zipline Safari Tour. Myself (53 yr old dad) and my sons (age 16 and 12). I thought it offered great variety and overall value at approx 6 hours start to finish. First was kayak. It was about an hour and that is bordering on too long (my sons thought so) but it’s a beautiful scenic river and a gentle workout (we were sweating and a bit tired, but not a big deal). Next was an easy hike to a water pool with a rope swing. Everyone loved that. Next a short hike to an open air Safari truck that transports the group through the ranch to a lunch area and the zip lines. Lunch was good and just in time to relax a bit, take a few pictures, etc. This is where you get on the gear for the 2 zip lines. They were fun. We had a group of 12 and my only critique is that there’s a lot of waiting - for your turn to zip, and then for others to finish their zip - before moving on (so while the zip lines are fun, they’re just seconds in duration). After the 2nd zip there’s a short hike to a larger water pool that has a few jumping platforms and a mini-zip. I think the jumps were at 12’ and 18’. My sons loved this activity as much as the zip lines. They wanted more time to keep jumping. Finally, one last hike brings you full circle, back to where we dropped the kayaks. This time you jump on a large outboard motor boat for a short ride that is a reverse trip on the same river, back to where you started. Our guides Sareh and Riker were great. I would recommend this adventure if you want variety and if you and your companions are patient enough to enjoy the total time.

Aloha Ray F, Mahalo for joining us on the Kipu Zipline Safari. Your thorough review and recommendation is greatly appreciated. Sorry there was a bit of waiting for the ziplining, but hopefully the scenery made up for it. :) Kipu Ranch is spectacular. I hope we see you and your sons again for another great adventure.

Of all our cruise line excursions, the Zip & Splash was hands down our favorite! Beautiful scenery and a swimming hole at the end!!

What really made this experience great was the awesome staff...particularly ROSS and ELENA. My friend's special needs foster daughter wanted to participate. We had concerns and questions as to whether this would be possible, so we called them before our cruise. The staff answered all our questions, explained the logistics of their zipline course, and reassured us that they would be able to accommodate her needs.

Ross picked us up at the dock and immediately went about memorizing everyone's names. While waiting for the other guests to zip, he also took time to get to know each of us. We were especially grateful for the friendliness and help Ross and Elena showed to my friend's special needs daughter. They gave her extra help in gearing up and were patient in giving her extra time to zip as well as suggestions to make it easier for her. As as result...she had a BLAST and is ready to do it again!

We also did not realize that lunch was provided. My friend and her daughter have special dietary needs and Outfitters Kauai even had a lunch that met their requirements! That was a great and appreciated surprise!

By the end, we felt as if we were friends with all the staff and we can't wait to come back to do this again in beautiful Kaui!!!!

My husband and I are 73 and 72, and had a lot of fun on this trip, but there were some disappointments as well. The kayak trip upriver was lovely, and the walk to the swimming hole was beautiful, though muddy. I was glad we had brought our walking sticks to negotiate the slippery rocks and mud. I was surprised at just how basic lunch was; two slices of white bread with a little turkey and cheese, and packets of mustard and mayo. The brownie, however, was excellent! The zip lines were a lot of fun, and we were very impressed with the safety procedures - Keegan and Mitch did a great job. The hike out was where we had some problems. One gentleman in our group had some physical issues and was having a very difficult time keeping up with the group, especially with the slippery conditions. Our guide didn’t seem to notice that the group was spread out over a quarter mile. He kept moving with a young couple, and we held back with one of the other members to wait for the stragglers and make sure they took the right path. There was one place in particular where you walk a short distance on a road, then plunge back into the forest, which would have been very easy to miss. We called out several times for the guide to wait up, which he did, but then he’d head off again. I’m guessing this may have been his first trip. He was a really nice guy, but needed a little more training on keeping a group together.

I would recommend this tour to families with little ones and groups with large age ranges who are interested in stretching their outdoorsy muscles. Definitely not going to deliver a challenge to an adventurous couple or even a family that enjoys hiking/kayaking/athletics of any kind on a semi-regular basis. You’ll see mangroves up close and enjoy a brief jungle walk to pretty, but mid-sized falls. I really appreciated that our guide was comfortable letting us hang back on the kayak to soak in the mangroves. He had a good sense of what each group needed and met them where they were.

As an aside, I do take issue with the Outfitters Kauai BMI policy. My hubby is a muscly guy with a few extra honeymoon phase pounds, which excluded us from the other “strenuous” tours that we definitely could have handled.

Aloha Bookish, We appreciate your review and input. The Hidden Falls tour is for all ages and abilities. It is casual and most people really enjoy the boat ride back. As for our weight requirements, they are pretty standard throughout the industry and are put in place for safety, Safety is always our number one concern with fun a very close second. Mahalo.

Our group of 7 of us (3 adults and 5 teens/young adults) went out on the Safari Adventure day with Paul and Teresa as our guides. This was such a fun day! Our entire group decided it was the best excursion we booked during our time in Kauai. From Kayaking, to hiking, to tarzan swinging, to zip lining, it was non stop action packed adventure that all of us enjoyed so much! Our awesome guides were friendly, professional, fun and knowledgeable about the area. I would highly recommend this day to anyone looking for something different and exciting to entertain an active family!

Great time with Caleb and Dusty as our guides. Both professional and safe in guiding our group through the terrain and on the lines, but also provided knowledge of the land and it’s history. Not to mention plenty of jokes from Caleb, ask about his all time worst joke. I would definitely recommend this for adventure seekers of all ages

Our Outfitters Kauai Adventure was outstanding! We started out with kayaking up a river into the jungle, hiked a trail to a beautiful swimming hole, took a dip, hiked to a tractor ride up to the zip lines, and enjoyed some truly breathtaking views while zip lining above the forest canopy. We then hiked to another waterfall/swimming hole and got to jump and zip line into the natural pool there. After that, we hiked back down to the river and took a boat ride back to where we had started. For our family of six, it was fairly expensive, but it lasted all day and we saw some natural beauty that we would otherwise never have seen. They provide water/fruit drinks and a sub sandwich lunch as part of the package. Be aware, if you go during the winter months/wet season, the trail will be extremely muddy, but that didn't stop us a bit! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and our guide Tressey was amazing! You'll need to be able to hike and walk long distances over uneven terrain, but otherwise you don't have to be super fit to complete the hikes. If we were to go Kauai again, I would not hesitate to pay for another family trip through the jungle. It was one of my highlights of our family vacation!

Aloha TangoOne, Mahalo for the excellent review and great description of our Kipu Zipline Safari. I call it the "pupu platter" of activities. It's a little sampler of a lot of different things we do. Hope we see you again for another family trip through the jungle.

Our friends are cycle nuts and suggested this excursion, cycling down a 12 mile long canyon road. My wife and I are only occasional, not very confident cyclists so this idea was a little worrying. Coupled with the need to get up at 5:50 and drive across the island in the dark increased the apprehension. However, the staff at Outfitters relaxed us by telling us that we would be going at a pace of a walk on wheels and the coffee and muffin helped too!

It turned out that this was not strictly true and following a 12 mile twisty turny van trip to the top of the canyon, we cycled down at varying speeds, which was in turn exhilarating and relaxinig. With frequent stops on the way down, coupled with knowledgeable talks on local geography and history, it was great fun.

Would thoroughly recommend it, even for journeymen cyclists like me

There was a lot of rain the day of our visit and a lot of rain proceeding the week that caused some issues on the island. All of that basically limited what we could do on the excursion and eliminated a few of the fun aspects like the rope swing, the zip line into the pool, and even the boat ride back down the river. With all that missing it felt like we really overpaid for what we got and should have been offered a rescheduling or some sort of partial refund. Everyone did their best with the situation but it could’ve been better.

Hoping for more out of this excursion for the money. The first part, the kayak portion, was fine. The second half was a let down. Boring hike through mud to a very tiny waterfall. Only spent about 10 min at rope swing. Feel like for the $$ they should rethink the second half of the trip & there should have been fresh fruit or something else provided. After reading all the amazing reviews we thought it would be great, but there so many other options in Kauai

Sorry you did not feel the experience was five star. The tour you booked was our Hidden Falls Kayak and Hike. It's designed to be easy and simple for the entire family to enjoy. If you would like a more challenging adventure please try our Kipu Zipline Safari or our Wailua River Paddle Jungle stream. Both tours include lunch and a bit more adventure. Mahalo.
