I walked into Tamba, a surf shop in Kapa'a to get a hat or some sort of souvenier. While paying for my hat I asked the guy working there about surf lessons. He said he could give me someone's number that they give out, but asked where I was staying. I told him the Marriot at Kalapaki Beach. He said... More

The canoe surfing experience is a 10 out of 10. The instructor Lou was simply awesome. He was able to each us how to part of the team and steer us into 7 tremendous surfing runs. We are both seniors and it was well worth every minute. I would highly recommend this.

I did 2 activities with Kauai Beach Boys; a surf lesson on my birthday, and an outrigger canoe ride with my wife on our last day in Hawaii. Both times, the instructor was Alika, and I'm pretty sure I spelled that wrong. Surf lesson was fun, catching waves with the outrigger canoe was AWESOME. He's a great instructor, besides that,... At Marriott in Lihue, next to airport. Rented surfboards and beach gear. Very helpful and friendly. Probably my favorite beach for lounging and bobbing in the water. Small swells, easy for learners. Watched the canoes ride the swells in; want to do that when I go back. Rentals and lessons were reasonably priced. Dukes is there, pricey, but good. Just... More

I'm 48 and this was my first time surfing. We were on the NCL Pride of America, and decided to try to find a local surf lesson rather than booking through the cruise line. There was a free shuttle from the cruise port to/from Anchor Cove, which provided a perfect place for learning to surf. Beach Boys/Da Life Outdoor Gear... More

We rented a surfboard for my husband and he had a blast. We took lessons the day before and it went well for him that he went back alone the next day. Will be back again to rent

Beach boys is a layer back place.  Easy to get to and park in the public parking area.  Just follow the signs to Duke's.  They were great with our kids 8, 11, 14, and 18 years old.  Mellow surf lessons and a great time for beginners.  The bay has small 2 foot waves.  There is lots of shade if you... We've been coming here for 10 years because Marlo got us up the first time - and he has gotten us up EVERY time. We were never surfers until Marlo got us hooked. Kalapaki beach is the best place for beginners.

Wife and daughter BOTH went paddle boarding with kauai beach boys at kalapaki beach. very inexpensive rental; They had lessons for first timers, but the "refresher" was quite sufficient for the ladies. nice beach ; great support . adds up to a nice couple of hours of fun

We stayed at Marriott Waiohai Beach Club, so used the onsite Kauai Beach Boys facilities a lot. Nelson was an awesome teacher, the whole family surfed successfully during our first lessons (and our 11 yr old son warned us he is moving away to surf every day)! We also headed to their main office at Kalapaki Beach for a few... More
