My wife passed away in September 2022 and I came to Kauai to spread her ashes because it was her favorite place to go as a child. I also came here to fulfil a promise I made to her, to have some fun, recharge, and get my head on straight and do the one thing she knew I loved, Scuba Diving. After some research I came up with Dive Kauai. They were good to work with, at first. On the day I was supposed to fly out I missed my flight due to an accident that had the hwy closed. I rescheduled my flight for the next day. I was supposed to be going with Dive Kauai for a refresher. When I called them to reschedule, they charged me a $75 rescheduling fee even though the reason I’ve rescheduled was not my fault, but I rescheduled anyway. It was 90 plus degrees that day and we’re out there going over equipment, hand signals, etc. I had brought most of my own equipment. For the most part I put together everything while she was talking about refresher materials. We also got into our wet suits and because I had a few more things to do I didn’t get a chance to jump into the water to cool off and looking back I think I got heat exhaustion. I finally got down to the water with all the equipment and the entrance into the water is a slippery and uneven. I got in and was having issues with my mask getting it to seal. When she checked with me, and I said I was having a little trouble, she pulled the mask off my face and dragged me into shore. She said I couldn’t participate in that dive and probably could go on the next one using their equipment. We then started walking out of the water I was having problems because of the uneven surface it was slimy and slick and every time the wave came in it would knock me the forward and backward. I was a little bit winded because I had walked down in full equipment got halfway to the dive sight and had to back up that ramp. Well this pissed her off. I have never seen a dive instructor act this unprofessional. In front of two other groups she proceeded to remove the tank and BC tell me that I was too out of shape, I had no business diving, and to go back to a pool. She said that she would not let me dive with her and she didn’t know who else would. I just stared. I was diving long before she was born, my best friend was a dive instructor. She embarrassed me in front of others and in my opinion she should learn some people skills before she goes on as an instructor. BTW I found another dive company and had an awesome two tank dive day!
