My wife passed away in September 2022 and I came to Kauai to spread her ashes because it was her favorite place to go as a child. I also came here to fulfil a promise I made to her, to have some fun, recharge, and get my head on straight and do the one thing she knew I loved, Scuba Diving. After some research I came up with Dive Kauai. They were good to work with, at first. On the day I was supposed to fly out I missed my flight due to an accident that had the hwy closed. I rescheduled my flight for the next day. I was supposed to be going with Dive Kauai for a refresher. When I called them to reschedule, they charged me a $75 rescheduling fee even though the reason I’ve rescheduled was not my fault, but I rescheduled anyway. It was 90 plus degrees that day and we’re out there going over equipment, hand signals, etc. I had brought most of my own equipment. For the most part I put together everything while she was talking about refresher materials. We also got into our wet suits and because I had a few more things to do I didn’t get a chance to jump into the water to cool off and looking back I think I got heat exhaustion. I finally got down to the water with all the equipment and the entrance into the water is a slippery and uneven. I got in and was having issues with my mask getting it to seal. When she checked with me, and I said I was having a little trouble, she pulled the mask off my face and dragged me into shore. She said I couldn’t participate in that dive and probably could go on the next one using their equipment. We then started walking out of the water I was having problems because of the uneven surface it was slimy and slick and every time the wave came in it would knock me the forward and backward. I was a little bit winded because I had walked down in full equipment got halfway to the dive sight and had to back up that ramp. Well this pissed her off. I have never seen a dive instructor act this unprofessional. In front of two other groups she proceeded to remove the tank and BC tell me that I was too out of shape, I had no business diving, and to go back to a pool. She said that she would not let me dive with her and she didn’t know who else would. I just stared. I was diving long before she was born, my best friend was a dive instructor. She embarrassed me in front of others and in my opinion she should learn some people skills before she goes on as an instructor. BTW I found another dive company and had an awesome two tank dive day!

I had an absolute blast getting my certification and diving with KDU. I did both my certification and 2 additional dives (8 total dives including the 4 in my certification). My instructor was Josh who was excellent. He was extremely thorough and you felt very safe underwater with him. We had some friends in our group that have done over 50 dives and said that Josh was one of the most thorough dive masters they have dove with. Really just an awesome experience all around and highly recommend!

Enjoyed diving with Mike and thought he did extremely well with our other diver who was having some difficulty. He is a relatively new dive pro and new to the area, but has excellent judgment and interpersonal skills. Conditions for the shore dive were not ideal, but we saw some cool stuff anyway.

I went through Kaua'i Down Under to get PADI open water certified (scuba diving) and it was all I could ask for. Very flexible to my work schedule, the scheduling team was extremely nice and cooperative, and our dive instructor Logan was phenomenal. Logan had a really great balance of fun, effective teaching, and letting us learn by practicing. I live in the area so I got a local discount which was super affordable and well worth it. Highly recommend anyone that is really motivated to get scuba certified to chose KDU!

What a spectacular day of diving. The seas were a little rough in our South Shore Zodiac but the crew was competent and entertaining. I saw more Giant Green Turtles than I could have imagined, hundreds of them! Highly recommend Kauai Down Under. Can't wait to dive with them again!

We did a twilight and night dive. They were very professionally led and a lot of attention was given to the wildlife we would encounter. We saw a lot of turtles, eels, coral, lobsters, shrimp, and other creatures. My son loved the bioluminescence. The sunset was spectacular and after the night dive the stars were spectacular. I would highly recommend these dives

This is a first rate dive operation. I am an advanced open water diver who needed a refresher. The course is excellent and my instructor (Josh) worked with me one on one. They also helped me with new cards and introduced me to scooter diving. These were some of the best days diving I have ever had and I have over 50 dives. The office staff is also smart and responsive. Gear was current and in good shape. I sensed a real concern for safety and my learning. I strongly recommend the entire operation.

Thanks for the kind review Chris! We're so glad you had such a positive experience and that Josh was able to get you 'refreshed' and take you on some great dives. Looking forward to taking you diving again on your next trip. Mahalo!

I did not have the best experience with Dive Kauai. I scheduled a boat dive with them but hit unexpected traffic on the way there, causing me to be 20 minutes late. When I called to let them know, they said they couldn't wait for me and I had to reschedule for a shore dive, which I agreed to. I was charged a $75 rebooking fee, which I felt was unjust since the traffic was beyond my control. On top of that, they charged me $55 more for the boat dive, even though I ended up doing the cheaper shore dive. When I reached out to them via email to express my disappointment and request a refund for the overcharge, they never responded. As a college student, money is tight, and this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Outstanding trip with Kauai Down Under. The whole team did an outstanding job with the dives. The dive masters and captain were extremely professional and really made the trip fun. The dive boat was ready when we arrived and they had everything we needed for a efficient and safe trip. I would highly recommend Kauai dive under.

I did four shore dives and two boat dives with Dive Kauai and they were all first rate. The boat is a small zodiac but our group was small. The shore dives with Bri (no, that is how she spells it) were wonderful. I have had major surgery (I was approved for SCUBA for you nit pickers!) and Bri made me feel welcome and help me get into the water and back on shore. I left wishing I could adopt her but alas I live in the desert....pretty close to the "fish out of water" cliché. What I liked most is that they seem to instigate comradery with us dive participants making us all feel like friends.
