We first visited Banana Joe's back in November of 2015. We came back again in July of this year. This is a family run spot and it's a great place to visit when in the Kilauea area of Kauai. We love the banana frostys (which is a local apple banana smoothie) after a day at the beach. We get local snacks like their banana bread and Dizzy Lizzy cookies and they carry Oils of Aloha which I stock up on because their prices are reasonable compared to others in the island. I highly recommend a visit for a fun snack stop.

It's worth the drive to Kilauea for Banana Joe's. Farmers market in the adjacent parking lot on weekends.

Stopped here for a smoothie. Very few selections in a very small building. They are renovating so maybe it will be better. There are lots of better places on the island to stop for a smoothie.

This was one of the "had to go" places we heard of and we weren't dissapointed.

It's a cute little fruit stand right off the side of the road off the main highway just before the turn to Kilauea if heading south from Princeville.

They have really good smoothies and frosties in pineapple, banana and mixed flavors (the frosties are great!) and other treats like chocolate covered apple bananas, which we loved.

They also have a great selection of local fruit like papayas, mangos, bananas, etc.

We loved this place and would definitely recommend it!

Banana Joe's is undoubtedly an establishment on the north shore of Kauai. Joe and Cindy have been running it longer than I have been alive and let me tell you, practice makes perfect.

To all the people reading reviews in which people complain about certain fruit not being in season: This is a local fruit stand. Joe and Cindy only stock fruit that is in season and local. Mangoes, guavas, and white pineapple don't just fall off trees 24/7, 365 days a year. However that just makes them more special when they are in season. My recommendation to tourists is to be adventurous and try what is is in season! Rambutans, lychee, and tangelos are just a few examples.

The smoothies and frostys are amazing. They make them fresh every day and we do just use fruit. That's it. It always make smile when people press them about the ingredients and they have to keep telling them it is just frozen pineapple and banana. That is one of my favorite parts of Banana Joe's, they let the fruit speak for them. I strongly encourage you to try not only a smoothie or frosty but some of the delicious local fruit and produce. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

The smoothies there are pretty good, though it wasn't as cold as I thought a smoothie should be. I had a better smoothie at the Beach House restaurant if you happen to go there... they called it the Beach House Smoothie.

We did buy some good apple bananas there, and they also sell Hawaiian fudge, but I didn't get any.

Banana Joe's sells souvenirs and chocolate covered banana's, chocolate and other sweets. Another hut on site sells fruit freezes. Previous owners retired. We MISS our vegetable and fruit stand. Please change the sign to Chocolate Banana Joe's Stand and cross out the word 'fruit'.

Joe has retired and become a landlord. The GOOD NEWS is that he has rented a prime space to the Fehring Family Farmstand, which has those world famous frosties and smoothies and acai bowls and homemade organic popsicles available daily. Stop by; you will not regret doing so, YUMMY and so ONO.

Sadly, I don’t think this is a fruit stand anymore.
We went and it seems like it’s a chocolate stand now- didn’t see any fruit, and no signs of the smoothies or frostys we were hoping to try.
