I signed up for the beach tour, which included a garden tour. The garden tour was first with a stroll through the grounds. Our guide was Julia (or Julie) and she was great. She explained about the different plants and history of the gardens. We saw wonderful sculptures, a maze, pond, Japanese-style building and more. I brought my good camera... More

NavAina Kai Botanical Gardens are located on the highway in Kilauea. The gardens are part of a mini golf site so you can opt to play a round of mini golf while touring the gardens ($18 I believe) or pay for a self guided tour of the gardens ($10 per person, regardless of age). It's a nice place and can... More

Our friends got married here and it was perfect. The ceremony was nestled in a beautiful grove of trees. Shuttles then took us to the reception tent in a garden right near the beach. The view was stunning. We didn't see much of the grounds, but what we did get to see was nice and lush and tropical.

What an amazing place! The brochure we picked up at the airport and anything we've read in guide books about this place just don't do it justice! Originally a private home and garden, the story goes that the curiosity of neighbors prompted the owners to make this a not-for-profit organization and open it up to the public. Of course, that... This is a remarkable place. So many different plants and trees. You will learn and see a lot here, from the flora and fauna to, if you are lucky, albatross fledglings, as it is one of the only albatross nesting spots in the northern Pacific. The caveats? You have to go on a guided tour, and it lasts three hours,... More

Had a wonderful "stroll and ride" tour of this botanical gardens. The place is diverse which may be the charm. This site is not truly in my mind a botanical gardens. There are children's play and educational areas, agricultural areas growing hardwoods in straight rows, and formal gardens adjacent to residences. That said there is a lot of botanical knowledge... Na‘ ina Kai Botanical Gardens at Kīlauea is a beautiful representative of the garden isle. The gardens are well planned and maintained and a great location for weddings (and proposals, guys). Also good for social gatherings. There are almost 200 sculptures throughout the grounds.

We had been there before and wanted to see as much of the garden as we could so we took the 5 hour Trek trip. Amazing in every way and so glad we signed up for this trip. Our guide Julie was fabulous!! The time seemed to fly by as Julie walked us to the garden trail down thru the... More

Like another reviewer, we found ourselves wondering how much longer this would last. The tour guide was a very passionate volunteer who clearly loves showing the gardens, but not much was done to engage the audience, so we were left following a group of people on foot for 2 hours. She was very knowledgable and told us about most every... More

Our tour was considered a walking/riding event, although they have guided walking/hiking, and additional tours the reserved spaces fill up fast. We booked three days in advance, and most tours were full at that time. Our guide was so well informed about all of the sculpture, flowers, tree groves, and history of the gardens. We were fortunate to see nesting... More
