The price is worth the taste of a Sugarloaf pineapple alone, but the fact that the owners lead the tour and give you some background on how they started the farm made the experience feel so much more personal. From learning about the farming process to actually getting to plant your own pineapple, this tour is a must for a quick stop during your trip to Kauai. We visited during the offseason, so unfortunately didn’t get to bring home a pineapple, but they made up for it by offering pineapple juice or dried pineapple instead which was a nice touch. The only downside is, it’s going to be hard to go back to eating regular yellow pineapple after our visit. 5 stars doesn’t feel high enough!

I've been told that eating pineapple in Hawaii would ruin eating it back home. The sugerloaf pineapple at Hole in the Mountain Farm is the first time I've ever actually felt it. The pineapple is absolutely delicious. It's an entirely different experience to typical yellow pineapple. The farm tour was informative and interesting. Make sure to where hiking/walking shoes you're fine with getting dirty - it is a farm after all. Would definitely go again. The only problem is that I now have the need to buy one online at least one a year... but is that really a problem?

Great tour, the owners double as your tour guide and are very knowledgeable. Group sizes are kept relatively small. You get a chance to plant, pick, eat and drink white pineapple (so much better than commercial, yellow pineapple. Highly recommend!!

What a fun and educational experience. Jude was our tour guide and she is the owner of the business. That was a real treat as well as her stories. You get to be hands on and plant and harvest pineapple all on the tour. We got to sample the pineapple as well as eat a most delicious frozen pineapple treat at the end. I highly recommend.

We weren't sure what to expect but ended up having a wonderful tour. Paul who is owner with his wife was very knowledgeable and engaging with the entire group. We learned everything from initial origin of the Sugarloaf to planting, seeding and the best; eating! We planted our own Sugarloaf during the tour and experienced the best pineapple you can imagine. If you are a pineapple fan, do not miss this tour!

The tour of the farm is interesting, you see the pineapple in all its stages and best of all you get to taste lots of pineapple, have pineapple sorbet and every one gets their own sugarloaf pineapple for later. We had ours for breakfast the next day. It tastes so delicious, it is hard to save

We took our 4 grandchildren, ages 7 and 5, on this tour. They enjoyed planting, picking and tasting the pineapple. The 2 hours in the field standing and listening was a bit too long for them. The tour information about the pineapple was excellent. Paul was our guide and he was very helpful with the children answering their questions, and helping them plant and pick a pineapple. The white pineapple was delicious!

I stumbled upon Kauai Sugarloaf pineapple at a farmer’s market in 2019. We planned this trip to optimize my Kauai sugarloaf pineapple consumption and to take the farm tour this year. The farm tour is given by the owners Paul and Jude Huber. They tell their history of the farm, explain and show the various stages of the pineapples development. They demonstrate how they plant and how to pick the pineapples. You can plant and pick a pineapple to take home with you. Jude was our excellent and very entertaining tour guide. The weather made the tour more interesting and a bit slippery on the way back for the pineapple samples and Paulie’s Pineapple Phrosty. They have a great story and passion for Kauai Sugarloaf White Pineapple. Loved the tour, the owners and employees were all friendly and welcoming! I encourage anyone to try their products and take the tour!

This was our very first thing we did after landing on Kauai. The tour was very informative, and it was fun to be able to plant new pineapple starts. The best part was harvesting our own pineapples, tasting lots of pineapple, and of course the frozen pineapple treat at the end.

This was a fantastic experience that we enjoyed so much! Jude and Paul are so welcoming and clearly love sharing their knowledge and love of the Kauai sugarloaf pineapple they grow! The tour was so special as we got to learn so much about their life, starting the farm and the work and process of growing these delicious pineapples. Jude is right! We'll never be able to eat the "other brand" again and feel satisfied! We had delicious pineapple treats and samples of the sugarloaf pineapple. One of the highlights was getting to put a pineapple plant in the field!

We were not aware there were still functioning pineapple farms in Kauai and looked forward to visiting what we were told was the last large commercial operation on the Island. We had toured the larger Pineapple Plantation in Maui and enjoyed it very much. This was a different experience. The operation is much smaller and the tours were conducted by the husband and wife owners (both justifiably proud of what they had accomplished). The tour ran just over two hours and included detailed information on how premium white pineapples are grown along with visitors being able to not only pick their own to take home but plant the old crowns for the next crop.

Our tour guide, Paul, was eager to share but tended to be a bit too technical and often strayed off topic. This made it difficult for our two small grandchildren (ages 7 & 10) to understand what was being said and enjoy the tour.

Paul's wife, who guided the other group. seemed to be able to better connect with the visitors.

The cost seemed high for what was provided (we had all the pineapple we could eat, plus a frozen pineapple desert and a premium white pineapple to take with us (it was delicious!). Adults cost $90 and children were $45. The tour is only offered on Thursday mornings with a Thursday afternoon added if demand warrants.

I will start by saying that the pineapple is the most delicious thing ever! This is why I became curious about the farm. The owners are very nice but honestly, umm, well, umm Paul needs to umm get his talk organized. He just rambled on, there were a few chairs at one location but should have had more benches for people because it was a long time to stand in the sun while he told his stories. I am writing this review not only for other people who want to go but also for Paul. Perhaps Jude is a better speaker but for the money you spend I would suggest the rum tour instead.

I ordered sugarloaf pineapple online to send to my brother and SIL, who had just moved from their 40-year homestead in Daytona Beach, FL, which had a huge pineapple garden on it, to a two-bedroom condo in Gainesville, GA. I sent this information to the Kauaʻi Sugarloaf™ White Hawaiian Pineapple folks, who took such good care of my needs. Not only did they expedite the order, sending it out with the next Tuesday shipment (shipping on Tuesday so that it is delivered to the mainland by week's end rather than sitting in a warehouse all weekend!), but they also notified me about the shipping so that I could both surprise my brother and stay aware of when it was expected. Going above and beyond, they sent not two but four pineapples, putting in a personal note to let the recipients know that the crop was smaller than expected, so rather than the two that I ordered, which they expected to be larger, they were including four smaller ones. Now that is 10-star customer service! I HIGHLY recommend ordering from this farm, and you can find the link online for delivery across country. I tasted the pineapple when I was visiting my brother, and thank goodness for the thorough information the company included, which told us to eat the core! This was unlike any pineapple I have ever eaten, and now I am spoiled for ever eating a "normal" pineapple again. They call these "sugarloaf," and that is the perfect name for these sweet, light yellow ovals of deliciousness. This is a little farm, so please support small business. Your taste buds will be rewarded for it!

We enjoyed this tour very much. Jude, Paul and Sarah were very friendly and welcoming. This is not a commercialized tour, but a small, local farm operated by a couple who obviously love what they do. There is not a lot of walking but you are on your feet for a couple hours. I did not find it too hot because there was a nice breeze and I did not notice any bug bites as someone previously mentioned.

The sugarloaf pineapple is nothing like I have ever tasted. It is much more delicious than the yellow pineapple we are used to eating. Unfortunately, there were not enough mature pineapples for us to be able to take one home, but we did get to taste it fresh, frozen and whipped. In lieu of a pineapple, we were given a jar of pineapple juice which we enjoyed.

Paul goes into detail of the agricultural process of growing pineapple and farming. We found it very interesting but I think children would be bored. Tours are only once a week and limited in size so make reservations ahead of time.

One of the highlights of our Kauai trip. Not only did we get to finally try to Sugarloaf pineapple, we got to plant and harvest one! We learned a lot about growing pineapples and look forward to growing our own at home now. Even our 6 and 8 yo enjoyed it. They are reciting things they learned from Jude to friends. Jude was very welcoming to her farm. It made us feel like a local just chatting with neighbors. Really encapsulate the aloha spirit and great way to support a local farm. Highly recommend!

We planned our trip to Kaui and read about this tour. We also visited the other islands on the same trip. Based on the reviews here on Sugarloaf and the Big Producer on another island, we decided to visit Sugarloaf. It was well worth the time and cost. Paul was our tour guide and he did a great job. This is a family business and so, please remember his family and history are part of the tour. Those stories did add a lot of color. Paul walked us through the entire growing process, harvest and marketing of their pineapples. They have a very nice business. The tour lasted a little over 2 hours and ended with a Paulie’s Phrozen Phrosty - It was incredible. We learned a lot and was happy to help support a local business. And those pineapples were the very best we ever had! This may not be for the really young kids but tweens and teens interested in farming/growing would find it interesting.

It’s a 2+ hour tour, mostly walking the fields in the sun. Guides are the husband and wife who own the farm. They will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about growing pineapples plus are charismatic and have endless inserting stories to share about their lives. You will get ample sample of the delicious pineapples to eat right in the field, plus one to take home and a refreshing pineapple slushy at the end. These pineapples are clearly better than the ones you are used to eating. Kids seemed to be getting bored, but great for adults who don’t mind a few hours walking and standing in the sun.

So much fun. Not only did we get to plant, harvest and eat this white/sweet-fleshed pineapple, but also learned a lot about the science and economics of farming. A must-do for anyone who farms, gardens, has house plants and/or likes pineapple

My wife and I took this tour on February 6, 2020 and it is awesome. It is awesome because the owners are personable, entertaining and engaging. There were about 25 people at the site. Paul and Jude split the group up and start the tour at different points in the process. Essentially, you get the history of the farm, the history of Paul and Jude (married) and the education of pineapple farming. I was totally unaware of the process. You get to plant a pineapple topper (each person does), you get to pick a pineapple to take home and you get to eat as many pieces of fresh pineapple as you want at the end, topped off with a fresh pineapple smoothie type concoction that is delicious. The surprise to us was that the pineapple's are WHITE, not yellow and very valuable ($) pieces of fruit. They are much less tart and acidic as the yellow variety and they taste incredibly good...you can order online also, sent FedEx. The wonderful owners, the education and the eating make this a must do on Kauai. The tour takes from 2-2.5 hours and is worth every second. Gordon Robertson

We visited The Sugarloaf Pineapple Farm last week. The tour was very instructive and interesting. We learned about the growth process and harvesting of this wonderful pineapple. Jude made the tour fun despite the rain. This is the best tasting Pineapple I have ever had! Make sure you take a little cash for some of the fresh juices, dried fruits, and other goodies!
