Loved my solo paddle! Great guidance, top notch equipment. I really appreciate their carbon paddles, they make a huge difference.
I am a “pre-60” person 2 months post shoulder surgery. Took me a leisurely hour coasting and paddling with favorable trade winds to get to the falls staging area. (Did not hike to falls) after hiking/resting a bit, took me 1.5 paddling against intermittent headwinds.
Beautiful paddle, great guidance. Community launching spot should be better marked, but you’ll get it. Check in at strip mall office, then drive to launch area and grab board.

Excellent! Great experience. Easy to find. Picked up boards. Team were helpful and loaded our boards onto our convertible hire car and headed straight to river.
Company had a recommended route to the secret falls which was fantastic.

We had a wonderful time with Stand Up Paddle Kauai! Jon is the best. He really makes you feel welcome. Definitely give him a call and chat on the phone if you're thinking of renting. We got 2 boards for the day. Jon and his team provide everything you need: dry bags, paddle boards, paddles, backpacks, even shoes, plus paddling instruction and directions on how to get to the secret falls. They drive their truck down and load the boards onto the water for you.
They say it takes roughly 4.5 hours to paddle out to the secret falls and back. My partner and I made it back in about 3.5 hours... we were really going hard, though! We got a late start (around 2pm) so we wanted to make sure we were back before 6pm, even Jon was really cool about coming back later. Start early and take it easy.
It took us about 45 min to paddle down the river to the landing spot, wind at our back, then another 45 min to hike into the secret falls (you have to cross a river and 2 streams by foot. there's a guiding rope at the bigger stream). Then we spent about 30 min at the secret falls, where there were people of all ages enjoying the refreshing water (4 year old kids and 75 year old grandparents!). It was fantastic!
Be aware that you'll be paddling against the wind on your way back up the river to your car. We ended up kneeling down on our boards to cut down on the wind. It's definitely a workout on the way back, so be ready to do 45 min of light cardio at the end of your trip. Well worth it, though! Gotta earn that loco moco :)

This was a great experience, from just rocking up and being able to hire a stand up paddle board right away, to being brought to the river with board in golf cart, to the beautiful Waimea river and great paddle self-guided tour.
We had never done this before so had a big, stable beginner's board which made it very easy on the river. Next time want to go for a smaller board!

My wife and I wanted to SUP, it was her first time. We set up reservations over phone w/Jonathan. He was very helpful and sent me a detailed text on where to meet to sign papers and pick up our gear. We knew that you could paddle up the river and hike to a waterfall and he was able to give us detailed info on exactly where to go. We were also able to pick some old shoes they had to hike (there were some muddy portions of the trails) - shoes can be attached to the SUP via a bungee. We followed Jonathan to the landing spot down the street with our car (he transported the boards). He gave us some basic instruction. The equipment was really nice and he adjusted the oars for our size and also gave us a dry bag for our valuables. The paddle wasn't too bad on the way out but was bit challenging on the way back because of the wind. We got on the water about 10:30 am and were paddling back around 1:30 pm. I'm sure the wind depends on the conditions that can vary, Jonathan can you fill in on that🤛🏼. Once we paddled up the river it was about an 45 min hike to the waterfall which was amazing but the water was chilly (mud might have made the hike longer). It was so awesome! When we got back I just called up Jonathan and he was able to pick up the boards. Awesome business, def recommend going with them!

Jonathan set us up for a perfect half day of SUP & hiking. His customer service was excellent - new SUP boards, dry sacks, loaner shoes (perfect for the muddy hike up to the waterfall), key information about the river & hike site. He is very knowledgeable & he allowed us to have the independent adventure we were looking for. Highly recommend this company.

I went to try and rent a kayak last minute and they were all reserved, so the lady mentioned Stand Up Paddle as I was leaving and I’m so glad she did! I drove over to their shop and the guy rented me a board on the spot, taught me how to strap it to my car, gave me a little map with directions on how to get to the falls and I was on my way. It was exactly what I was looking for as a solo adventure…I chose to take the trip up the river to the secret falls (not so secret) and it was absolutely beautiful. The only tough part is coming back as you are paddling against the wind and at that point you are OVER IT lol. Honestly, if you are up for an adventure, go for it, but if you don’t want to be paddling for at least 2 hours total, then maybe see if you can get a kayak (Altho that looked tiring as well…and possibly causes some tension among families and couples lol).

We woke up this morning and decided we would go paddle boarding. With our 2 kids we weren't interested in taking a 3+ hour tour so we found Stand Up Paddle Kauai. They had boards available and were super helpful getting us all set up and on the Wailua River quickly. The paddle boards were already at the river and were easy to locate and get in the water. We spent 2 hours on the river, which was plenty of time and the rentals were affordable.

Great Stand Up Paddle boarding experience. Easy to book. Very affordable. Only outfit on the river that delivers your SUP boards to the state park launch site. They include dry bags in their pricing. Very friendly staff.
We did the water hole (left at the fork) which was fun. About 6 miles round trip. You can do the falls on the right fork but may want to bring water shoes. We were a party of four and though not everyone would do this again (the return trip is into the wind and difficult) this may have been my favorite activity during this trip to the island! Would recommend this shop as the guy who met us at the shop that morning (sorry) was super helpful about areas to visit on our paddle adventure and the boards were in great shape and waiting right where they told us they would be. Wonderful experience!!

Had a great day on the Wailua River. I called Kayak Wailua to try and get into a tour last minute, but they were full. They suggested I call Jonathon about a paddleboard instead - and so glad I did! He was friendly and accommodating, and had me out on the water in less than an hour. Very reasonable price for the day, with everything included. Unlike some rental companies, he brings the board right down to the river for you and picks it up when you're done, so no need to mess with loading it on your car.
I've tried stand up paddleboarding a few times before, but am nowhere near an expert - but the conditions here are perfect for any level of experience, even beginners. Very calm and sheltered, quiet, and minimal traffic. I spent about 4.5 hours out, and in less time than the average kayak tour takes, was able to both hike to the waterfall for a swim and head down the left fork of the river to the "swimming hole." As a solo traveler, I loved being able to go at my own pace. It would be pretty much impossible to get lost, and I had no problems getting to the falls without a guide. Overall, a perfect way to spend a day on the water - especially in the winter when some on-water activities weren't ideal due to surf conditions. Highly recommended!
