Our two families (4 adults and 4 teens) loved everything about this luau. From sun umbrellas and mai tais while waiting to be seated, to the fire show at the end of the night, we were thoroughly entertained. Everything was well organized and the food was fantastic - we’ve been to other luaus where the food was just “okay” so the superior quality of the food here was a pleasant surprise. The dinner music was wonderful - even a Hawaiian acoustic take on a Guns N Roses song! We also enjoyed going down to the beach and trying out the poi balls before dinner. The show itself was amazing. The costumes, the hula, the history, the beauty - the performers and the musicians were fantastic. This show managed to be laid back and energetic all at once. We highly recommend!!

It has probably been 10 years since we did Smith's, and it was good. But we remember feeling like we waited a lot and like we were packed in. The Ka Hikina venue is perfect. It is by the beach at the Sheraton Coconut Beach. It has a bar without a tip jar or any apparent limit. It has a to die for buffet. While I didn't get to see a pig taken out of a pit, I sure got to eat some of the best pig ever. There was fish, beef, chicken, and tofu. Lots of veggies, some yummy deserts. And hardly any wait to be served, and then seconds were easy - and I'm sure I saw folks there a third time. The hula show was not as big or professional as Smith's, but very good, and very charming. A local hula school run by one of Larry Rivera's children puts on the show. There are many performers who are in their 20's and some older than that, plus some awesome local kids as well. They really know what they are doing. There was also a Samoan fire dancer, which was a happy surprise. As I would not expect that in a "hula school" production. The parking, arrival, and leaving were all so quick! I'm guessing there were only 100 to 200 attendees. The scale of the event was very pleasant, and the professionalism of the food and entertainment was phenomenal.

The food was very good. The show was good but I’d hoped for more fire dancing. The one young man who did fire was hard to see and more of an exhibition than a dance/show. The whole luau went too long with the preliminary dancing and drum lessons and vendors.

I’ve been to maybe 4 different luaus on Kauai over the years and this one was one of my favorites. It’s at the Sheraton in Kapa’a which was super convenient for us since were staying nearby. So location alone was wonderful. It’s also lovely that it’s right off the ocean, so the views are pretty! The food was so so good, it’s open bar, and the performances were amazing! My favorite was the haka from New Zealand. It’s nice that there are activities to do beforehand as well. My 4 year old niece even went on stage and danced. We all had a wonderful time and everyone from the bartender to the servers to the dancers to the singers were all so friendly and kind. Definitely recommend this luau!

Wonderful time with my fiance. Food was delicious. Drinks were perfectly made (cutoff at 7:30). Performances were diverse and passionate. Wonderful first luau experience. Setting is beautiful with water behind the stage.

This was the second time I have gone to this Luau, I think it is one of the best on Kauai. It is a nice small venue with a great show, staff and food. I really like the hands on portion before the show starts. The dancers are amazing. I will return on my next trip to Hawaii.

This was the first Luau we had been to in quite a while. The show and the actors were top notch. The food was very good, but I was disappointed when I was going back for seconds, it was being already put away. So if you want to go back, be very quick about it! The dessert seemed pretty simple after such a good meal. The reason for the average review was that when we went to be seated at our table, it was occupied. The hostess instructed us to get drinks and hang out on the grounds awhile. We did this, thinking everything would be straightened out. When we approached her again, she said our table had been overbooked and she would seat us in temporary seating and come back for us later. We felt we were left hanging. No one came back for us. We stayed where we were and got our plate. Later we were told that they were trying to seat a large family group at our original table. I was glad the family got to sit together, but disappointed that things were not handled as well as they could have been concerning our seating. Would probably not go there again.

I went with two friends to this event. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening. The food was good. But it was not at all like the pictures in the advertisement. It was not outside on the beach. The fire dancer was off to the side in the dark. We could see the flames glowing but could hardly make out the person. The lei they offered was just a string of tiny shells from China. They had real leis available to purchase. The performers were all students at a local hula school, so it felt more like a recital than the choreographed performances we've seen at other luaus, although the price was more than some of the other available events.

The show was good but I would have liked more history on the dancing. I would have enjoyed more history. The food was good but there was no gluten free dessert. There was a carrot cake that was mistakenly labeled gf but when I asked to verify that it was or not it turned out not to be. This is seriously dangerous for me since I go into anaphylaxis! I almost ate it. I was very disappointed on the lack of safety and not offering a gf option for dessert.
