The kayaking was great! Nice, easy river. The difficulty of the hike was quite unexpected and this should really be added to the site's information. You beach the kayaks and then hike in the water over slippery rocks and around tree branches and roots to a crossing. Yesterday, the crossing was swift and up to my upper thighs at its deepest point (I'm 5 ft 2 inches). The rocks were slick. Then, you had to nagivate mud steps which were wet and slick. That was some of the easier parts. Massive tree roots, mud, rocks and more water crossings - some in the water and some on failrly large rocks - laid in front of us. There was a wooden plank walk for a small part of the hike which was easy to navigate. The waterfall was beautiful, though. I wore hiking shoes to do this trip. Would advise against just water socks and bare feet. Would also emphasize the need to bring water, bug spray and suntan lotion. We had a small child on our trip and the hike was tough - she had to be carried across the streams and carried to the kayak. Perfect trip for an avid hiker. I, personally, would not do it again. Too treacherous.

We have rented kayaks from this company 3 times over the past 25 years, and very happy with their rentals and service each time. They are super freindly! My wife and I rented a tandem kayak and they gave us directions and a map on how to get to the Secret Falls. We did it on our own and we loved kayaking down the Wailua River and also the hike to Secret Falls. Their prices are very reasonable and they help you to strap the kayaks onto the roof of your car. Everything was super easy. Due to COVID, you have to reserve your kayaks ahead of time . It took one phone call and we were all set. The price of the all-day rental was $80 for the tandem kayak. I found an ad in a local adventure magazine for $70 and they honored it without any problems.

Just want to thank the people of wailua river kayak for allowing us to cancel and get a full refund for our scheduled trip during this coronovirus crisis. It takes a great staff and ownership to do the right thing by refunding innocent peoples money during this crisis. We really appreciate it. We will not forget and will rebook with you as soon as we can reschedule. ( some companies not refunding and we are letting the world know)

We had an absolute blast kayaking, walking, and swimming with a waterfall. I highly recommend this tour group and Jason was an amazing tour guide.

Our guide Brandon was the absolute best. He was patient and helpful with us older gals so that we could really enjoy the entire experience. The falls were definitely worth the effort.
