This was a great afternoon adventure. The kayak paddling does take some effort. Be prepared to work especially hard coming back after the hike as the wind makes it more difficult than going in. It's very pretty, fun and the hike and payoff at the falls are worth it. The guides know what they are doing and have lots of... More

Kyle was our guide. He was fantastic! He had so many interesting facts to talk about but also just chatted about anything and everything throughout the day. He was so friendly and really added a lot to the experience. You kayak down a river and then hike into a beautiful waterfall. It was the rainy season and we had had... More

We were lucky and kayaked the Wailua the day before all the flash flooding. The river was gorgeous, the scenery was awesome and our guide, Kavaka, was a riot! The hike to the falls was also just so much fun- it was pretty muddy at some spots, but still so much fun. Secret Falls were amazing!! It was so cool... More

Kyle was our guide and he was very good! He made sure we all were informed about safety. He taught us a lot about the area, the foliage and the terrain. Kyle was very good about counting everyone in our group! There are always those who fall behind but he did a great job of making sure that all were... More

We had a wonderful time on the kayak/hike/waterfalls trip with Kayak Wailua. It was a nice combination of activities for a great price. Our guide, Lisa, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the trip. I would highly recommend!

I don't believe it is just this company that is unsafe, but there were obvious warning signs about the river and the risk of a flash flood. The eight other people, my boyfriend and I trusted the judgement of the company to make the call if the river would be unsafe for a trip to the waterfall. The guide and... More

Someone literally died on our tour when the guide had us ford a stream when the water was dangerously strong. Find a more professional outfit with tighter regulations. (helmets, life jackets, proper footwear, better training, etc.) A tour like this should have had at least 2 guides... One in front, and one in back. I'd be surprised if it's still... More

The fatal accident that occurred on December 3 was extremely tragic. All of us at Kayak Wailua are devastated and heartbroken with the loss of a beautiful life. During the past thirty years hundreds of thousands of participants have experienced this tour which is 4.5 to 5 hours long. Saturday was a gorgeous sunny day and every kayak tour company... More

Kayak Wailua impressed us from the time we checked in to the end of the trip. The company offers a number of time slots to choose from. You park in a private/fenced property and greeted by a very professional staff. You get shuttled to the marina in a very clean/comfortable van. Kyle, our guide, was awesome! He was very helpful,... We had Kawika as our guide yesterday and he was amazing. He got to know each of us and took the time to answer our questions and to educate us on plants and history in a fun way. We all felt very safe with him and he knew all our names and had jokes with us. The kayak and hike... More
