Beautiful old building (only saw outside) with an old cemetery dating back to the 1800s! Pretty plants and flowers on the grounds. Old Mission is now a school. Next to a large park for kids.

This church completes the Hawaii experience. The church is very friendly and nice to hear where visitors are from. The sermon are down to earth and very good. It is interesting to hear part of the service in Hawaiian.

This was originally erected in the early 1830s, which was destroyed by a storm in 1837 and was replaced by a wood frame building in 1841. Today you see its green exterior and vibrant stained glass windows which was built in 1912.

I love churchs and this one is super cute. Started in 1834, it has beautiful stain glass window, not much to see but you can feel the history when you walk in.

We worshipped at this church on a Sunday morning. The sanctuary was packed. When the worship leader asked visitors to stand, at least 1/3 of the congregation stood. They then passed around a microphone and asked each family to introduce themselves. This works with smaller numbers of visitors but not with so many. It takes up too much time.
One of the worship leaders later asked for individual prayer requests. We do this at our own church, but in this case it was drawn out with many folks not really asking for prayers but rather making statements. One women went over 5 minutes spouting a combination of New Age and religious "Kum Ba Yah" stuff. The worship leader amazingly criticized atheists and "evolutionists," lumping them into the same category. C'mon, that's nonsense.
There was a visiting preacher and he delivered an exceptional sermon. Well done! Would we visit here again? Not so sure.

We were very happy visiting this church for our recent Sunday morning church service. Learning about the history of this church, on the back of the bulletin, and participating in a Hawaiian based Christian service made for a good cultural experience. This is a small church but it has been going since 1834. The message was Christ centred and Bible based. If you're in the area and looking for a Sunday morning church service I'd suggest checking this church out.

We always stop to see churches and cathedrals when traveling and this is a beautiful small church in a really nice garden setting in Hanalei. Worth the stop to check it out.

We stopped by to catch the church in the foreground of an amazing Hanalei sunset and were treated to an extended and warm conversation with the new kahu (pastor) Eric and his wonderful wife Gia. A landmark in Hanalei and a sanctuary full of fellowship!

Is this church still operating during the pandemic?

The church is right on the main (and only) road that goes through the town of Hanalei.
