We found this trail not long after a rain, which is certainly common on Kauai's North Shore, and we decided to give it a try. The trailhead is located on Ohiki Road just out of Hanalei, with a small parking area on the left side...More

The average rating we are giving this hike is because the hiking trail was extremely muddy when we hiked it in late September of 2015, and that's the angle of this review; although it appears from other reviews that this trail is muddy quite often....More

Nice hike but very muddy and slippery. Be prepared with good shoes! The way back down is the most difficult part. Scenery is nice!

We did this hike with our three kids. They are 13, 11, and 8. It was steep, muddy, and slippery but manageable. It was my favorite hike that we did in Kauai. The views were so beautiful and it was a wonderful workout. At the...More

This trail was really fun! To get to the trailhead, go past Princeville and turn left immediately after you cross the Hanalei Bridge - and I mean immediately! You will go down a dirt road and won't be sure, but there is a parking lot...More

We enjoyed this relatively well maintained trail. Some solid climbing broken up by plenty of mild inclines to rest. Literally saw two families at the overlook with infants. Would not bother on a rain day.

Arranged for a hike with a guide and this trail was selected. With a month of rain previous to our visit to this trail this week, I'm not sure why a guide would think this is an appropriate beginner trail. It was extremely muddy and...More

Sadly it was too muddy and brush too thick during first section that we ended up turning back! Be prepared if you decide to try it!

Yes we hiked it around June 20, 2018. The road said local traffic only, but we followed other cars and it was quite fine to the point of the trail head. Trail is fine, well marked with trail access parking.
