We attended the February 9, 2020, concert in Princeville. We were so excited for the experience of listening to ukulele and guitar music. When Sandy and Doug played, the music was so peaceful. The problem is in two and a half hours, they maybe played eight songs, the rest was a lot of talking and a 45 minute intermission. We were lucky to be drawn as a prize winner at intermission, but to date we have not received the CD????

We have purchased, in the past, three CDs of their music. We love relaxing to the the slack key sound and usually play them frequently beginning about a month before we return to Kauai. I agree with other reviews that there is too much talking in relation to the amount of music played. The history of slack key is important for patrons to know but many of the personal stories could have been shortened or eliminated. Interaction with the audience is good but not to the point where the music is 1/3 of the evening.

Please let us hear your music!!! Sandy talks way too much and takes over the beauty of Doug’s music. He was amazing and so glad I got to hear him.

We attended an evening at Princeville community centre to hear Sandy & Doug Mcmaster play and talk about ‘slack key ‘ guitar with ukulele accompaniment. They were informative about its origins and what slack key is. It is the music of the Hawaiian Islands. soft and relaxing, It will take you back to the islands when you can't be there. They perform in Ka’paa on wednesdays, Princeville on Tuesdays 6:00-8:00 pm. And Hanalei on Fridays & Saturdays. Check it out.
