I wanted to be awed by the views and by the pier. Instead I found myself being annoyed with the crowd and the lack of respect of the pier as people were smoking on it, bringing their animals out to it and young people running with their boards and jumping off the pier. Just not my scene.

If you are in Kauai a drive to the north shore is a must. Absolutely breathtaking. This is real Hawaii!

Hanalei is one of my favorite places in the world. The view on the beach is breath taking. Depending on where you park it can quite a walk to the pier but with the views and the sound of the ocean you'll wonder how you walked there so fast. If you walk up on the pier please be mindful of... More

No matter how many times we've been here, we love coming back. (Although it's sad to see the older plantation style house replaced by "mansions") The Hanalei pier is surrounded by the beautiful blue ocean and framed by waterfall-lined mountains. Picturesque and the subject of much art and photographs. It's a fun spot to picnic and watch beginning surfers learn... More

the pier may be the best place to appreciate the garden isle that Kauai is known to be (other than on a hike). The mountains, the water and the sand is all captured here so beautifully

This building was redone a couple of years ago but it still real charm. As they say in Real Estate it also has location, location, location. Some of the best views in Hawaii are from this pier. You HAVE to see this place.

If you are in Hanalei then check out hanalei beach. If you are into piers then see that too but don't go out of your way just to visit a pier. It's a concrete structure with a few people fishing off it. No jumping off the pier is allowed. Scenic view is no different than from the beach.

Hanalei pier is an old pier, nothing to plan your trip around, but would recommend seeing if you'd like to walk up and down the Hanalei beach, which is fantastic! There is surf on both sides of the pier. One side beginner generally smaller, slow and mellow longboard break or the other side has an outside reef for more experienced... More

A short pier out from Hanalei beach with a covered area at the end. This is a great place to watch the surfers on the out reef. Bring your binoculars.
