Nice pier on Hanalei Bay, it’s fun to watch the surfers from the picnic tables at the end. Was surprised no one was fishing from the pier during our visit, maybe because the water is still relatively shallow even at the end. I’m not sure why the pier was built, we never saw any boats docked there, would be a good place to watch sunset after dinner in Hanalei.

If you’re visiting the Hanalei Bay area, then I’d recommend that you took the time to walk over and check out the Hanalei Pier. While the pier isn’t overly ornate in and of itself, it takes you far enough out onto the water to get some gorgeous views of the island and ocean. There were a few picnic tables with benches as well, so visitors can stop and stay for a spell if they want to enjoy a longer visit.
Pier is iconic and has a fair amount of history to it. Definitely a significant aspect of Hanalei and even the island of Kauai itself. Worth seeing if you’re going to be in the area.

I loved this beach and area of Kauai. The water was so calm and the area extremely picturesque. There was plenty of parking the day we visited Hanalei Pier and Black Pot Beach. There are lawned areas for picnics, outdoor showers and bathrooms. This is a great area to visit, and walk along and take many postcard photographs. If you have small children I highly recommend spending some time here. However, we only went here once as the water was a bit too tame and calm for my family (and young adult children) who like to boogie board and be in the waves. If you want tranquility and calm waters this is the place for you.

Surprisingly boring location for how high the reviews are of the area. Beach is fine, not as picturesque as many of the other nearby beaches, and is definitely more crowded than most. The pier is just a stone slab with a cabana and two picnic benches at the end; hardly goes out 20 feet. If you’re looking to park and be next to water this is the spot; otherwise take the time to walk to any number of the more enjoyable and attractive beaches nearby.

The movie South Pacific was filmed here. We enjoyed the peaceful ambiance, walking along the beach, and watching the surfers. This looked like a great place to learn to surf as people were standing/walking out a ways and the waves were decently sized. We saw a turtle resting and people were respectful of its space. The beach was very clean.

We walked along this pier to look out on Hanalei bay. It’s nice, at the end it is covered and there are tables with benches if you wanted to eat a picnic. It is an open area with a railing so you can look out on the ocean and feel the breeze in the shade of the cover.
The water is shallow here and you aren’t allowed to jump off the pier.
The only downside was parking. It was a pretty full lot when we visited.

My husband and I stopped here while visiting the north shore wish we had brought our swim gear as it looked like a great place for boogie boarding to the right of the pier as we could see some young children learning to surf. Parking can be a challenge but we were lucky to find a spot. The beach is very nice and the pier makes a great vantage point to watch the surfers.

The pier on Hanalei Bay is a sweet feature. Assuming you can find parking at the beach, this is an easy, rewarding stroll out over the water, which affords stunning views. It takes a matter of moments (depending on how long you tarry) and offers great photo ops.

There will be kids playing and jumping off the pier. There will possibly be people having a picnic at the tables on the pier. You just need to get yourself to the end of the pier and just take in the full view of the bay and the water and soak it up. You need to see it at least once. If you are less of a people person, come see it and go find a quieter beach, but you still need to come see it. I note that this entry is separate from the bay itself, and while you may want to spend a number of hours in the bay, there isn't much to do on the pier unless you are jumping in the water or taking photos.

If there is a north Kauai beach that reminds me of New Jersey this is it (for better or worse*)!! Like everything, the earlier you get there the better.
*Joking! This is obviously not for the better. But it is obviously way cleaner and people are not automatically rude…also obvious.

When this summer are the repairs to Weke Road and Black Pot Beach anticipated to be complete?

Yes! Just grab a fishing license! (I am sure you could get away with not getting one but better safe than sorry because there are hefty fines for not having camping/fishing licenses on Kauai)
