We walked out on the pier during a high surf warning and thought it was great. Watching the massive waves, the surfers, and the people trying to surf, was awesome.

Wife and I took surf lesson here and had a blast. Waves were solid but not too big for beginners. Locals were very chill. Good times.

Only way to the pier right now is to walk from the beach, due to construction from the hurricane. Nice stroll on the beach to get here. Picnic tables at the end of the pier. Gorgeous views.

You must go to this iconic pier on Hanalei beach, but it is complicated. Due to the floods in Hanalei last April the road has washed out and you will need to walk to the pier. It is well worth the walk. ‘Tis pier was...More

Love this spot but trying to get to it after the flooding is a challenge. Best to park at the other beach park and walk the beach to the pier. Once you get there...oh my! One of the best views anywhere. A must do photo...More

Road is washed out due to hurricane but can still get to the pier. Great pictures of the bay! Lots of surfers to watch.

Perhaps there was a reason for the pier in the past, but it is now defunct and not even pretty. It is at the end of the beach with the least people or foot traffic.

it´s an old, damaged and not especially nice to look at pier. In the middle of an otherwise beautiful landscape. Don´t get what´s supposed to be great about it

Yes! Just grab a fishing license! (I am sure you could get away with not getting one but better safe than sorry because there are hefty fines for not having camping/fishing licenses on Kauai)
