We arrived 40 minutes before the show since we did not know what to expect. We browsed the galleries and the shops until the pre-show activities began at 5:30. There was lei making and coconut weaving available. We were there the week on New Year’s Eve which did not have a show on Tuesday so I am not sure if both activities are available at all shows. The coconut weaving was fun. We all made a fish (2 parents 19 year old and 21 year old). It is a donation only activity. You may want to be prepared. We enjoyed the show. It was a very windy evening so we got a bit cold as the sun went down (bring a sweatshirt). One of the flaming knives had trouble and the rogue flames were snuffed out when the performer sat on them which made the show extra entertaining. If you are in the area take the time to enjoy the show and pre-show activities.

Caught this show 4 years ago and had it on my must see list for this trip. Unfortunately, they have gone the way of all the other Luau shows. It has now become a glitzy, plastic, Vegas review. The historically original costumes have been replaced by lots of feathers and bright colors. The MC spent so much time talking that there was only time for 3 routines. Instead of telling the history of the islands they have picked out the "Wow" acts to perform. Tahitian, Hula and Fire Dancers. Oh yes, and audience participation since just watching a good show is not enough today. The show which used to be an hour is now half that time. On the positive side, you don't get the commercials about the stores in the shopping center. It is still free and runs Mondays and Thursdays. They used to do a different show on each of those days but don't know if that is still the case. Was so put off that I didn't bother going to the Monday show. If I wanted a Vegas review I could have saved 7 hours of flying time.

Aloha, Over the past year and a half there have been a few changes to the format and timing of our weekly shows. What once was a relaxing hour of activities followed by a 30 - 45 minute show has been reduced to an all inclusive one hour activities/show format. We are doing the best that we can with 30 minutes, the new one hour format and earlier start time. I am sorry we didn't meet your expectations and do hope you give us another try. `O wau no me ka ha`aha`a, With humble regards...Maile Lee Tavares P.S. Audience participation was requested by many families who bring their keiki to our show.

We have seen this show at least 5 times during our various trips to Kolea on the Big Island. We usually watch the show and then get dinner reservations at Ruth Chris or the Tommy Bahama restaurant right there in the shopping area. They moved the start time up to 5:30 to help alleviate the traffic in the area. It's free and a must see.

We made a point to attend this free show because I had read such good reviews. We thought it started at 5:30, but it's only a 30 minute show that didn't start until 6. There are activities at 5:30, but they weren't prepared for the amount of people and the lines were long. All in all, if you happen to be in the area on a Mon/Thurs night, stop and watch, but don't make an effort to get here.

Aloha, We do arrive on Mondays and Thursdays with ample supplies to share with our Guests. No we do not have an unlimited supply of flowers but do get around to the majority of our guests in the time allotted. I do agree that the show should compliment your day's activities in the area but perhaps not the sole reason for you coming. Petroglyph walks and snorkeling in the area are great ways to spend your day before catching the show and having dinner at The Shops. Mahalo for your comments and we do hope you return and see us some time in the future. `O wau no me ka ha`aha`a, Humble regards...Maile
