On the way from our resort to Hilo, my wife and I stopped in for a brief walk through the garden and immediately wished we had more time to linger and take in the abundance of beauty and diversity offered. We received great service and...More

This garden more than pleased. While my wife is a plant fanatic, I am not, and still I found myself marveling at the beauty of the wide variety of flowers and plants. The couple that put this together did an outstanding job. Just when you...More

stumbled upon this gem when we drove the "scenic drive" near Hilo. So glad we stopped here. It was a little rainy - but they give you an umbrella to carry with you while you're there if you want (although the trees do provide some...More

This stop was a last minute decision and boy are we glad we did it! The garden is breathtaking and we enjoyed it immensely. The map they give you makes it easy to ensure you don’t miss anything. The view of the ocean is amazing....More

We were looking for another place and somehow ended up here (long story!) At first, I was shocked by the price but as soon as I had crossed the street and begun walking, I was sold. The paths take you through a rainforest valley down...More

The gardens are beautiful. The flowers and other plants are not all native to Hawai'i. On the initial walk down the steep hill, there are few labels and no scientific names. Once you reach the bottom, then everything is marked with with a full description....More

This garden has paved and/or deck trails. Because the park is in a steep canyon wheel chair users should use caution! Because of the wide variety of plants and gardens, I recommend spending at least a couple of hours here as you travel up/down the...More

Didn't expect much, we stopped on the way back from Akaka Falls. As expected there are lovely tropical plants, trees, orchids etc But the setting is really nice: the falls and the ocean view!

Hands down, The Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Garden is our most favorite garden so far (and we've been to several worldwide). If you're in the area, it's definitely a must see, even if you're not a plant person. The setting alone, a valley adjacent to a...More

Rain is common near Hilo. You can't let that prevent you from seeing things in Hawaii or you will never go outside. Rain usually doesn't last all day. Just be prepared.
