Afternoon Sail & Snorkel Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay

105 reviews
Kealakekua Bay is known to have some of the best snorkeling locations in Hawaii. Board a trimaran and head out into the bay on this convenient excursion that includes snacks, bottled water, snorkel and safety gear, and reef-safe sunscreen. Throughout the tour, your captain and crew provide little-known facts about the area’s history marine life, as well as snorkeling tips for guests with any level of experience.

The Maku'u farmers market is my favorite on the Hilo side of the Big Island!! If good eats is what your craving, there is a variety of good eats to include thai, Mexican, Japanese, bbq, crepes, local favs, lots of vegetarian options, coffee and danishes, and desserts! If you ate looking for plants, look no further. Ive found rare plants like the peanut butter fruit tree, lemon eucalyptus, and moringa.fruit and veggie stands are endless with local papaya, avocado, breadfruit, breadfruit, mango, rambutan, durian, and many others! Let's talk sweets... my favorite honey vendor whose farm is on the southeast of the island. Nice guy, let's you sample the different varieties of honey from the bees that pollinate macadamia, lilikoi, and mango fields before purchasing. You can also find local art, jewelry, clothing, knick knacks, massage, and fresh coconuts here. Often times, there is live music in the dining areas. Open on sunday's only, lots of parking, $2 per car.

This is a very active farmers market with multiple booths for fruits, vegetables, fresh produce, cook food... They have a wide variety of cooked food including Thai, Filipino, Mexican, Hawaiian, American, Chinese. They close at 2 p.m. so it's a very good place to go for lunch where you can try multiple types of food. Their prices are reasonable, they have a shaded area for eating .. also good bathroom facilities.

This was not the usual farmers market I had been used to. They have prepared food that you can eat with some traditional Hawaiian dishes like octopus dumplings as well as crepes, Mexican food and some asian style rice dishes. They also sold handmade crafts and had fruits and vegetables like the farmer's markets back home. They also had live music playing. I would recommend a visit to this market if you are on the big island. The food was great, my husband loved the passion fruit drinks, and the people were friendly. We found some nice gifts to take home with us.

I head straight over to the Ashlie where the tools are sold, passing by for a quick snack of banana chocking chip pancakes. My wife goes to the plants and buys another 3 fruit trees. We meet back by the live music under the shade structures to enjoy some Mexican and Hawaiian style food on the picnic tables. As we leave we can use the restrooms to wash up.
