Stopped by here twice on my recent Hawaiian vacation and both times there were sea turtles everywhere in the water and the odd one up on land. I went snorkeling with them but the water is often rough and a whole lot colder than other...More

I really enjoyed the beauty of this beach. The black sand and blue water really make a lovely contrast. The life guard on duty was very helpful as well.

During our recent trip to the Island of Hawaii we made a road trip to the black sand beach. The sight is absolutely beautiful and worthy of a visit. One side of the beach has finer sand that swimmers and waders were able to enjoy;...More

Green sea turtles frequent the beach and we were treated to seeing two today. The beach is beautiful. Be sure to see the lily pond behind it. A school group (5th graders?) were conducting research when we visited. Great to see nature "alive."

This was our last stop on a day we drove to South Point and Green Sand beach. It's definitely something to see. I think it's a really pretty beach and the texture of the sand is real cool. The fact that turtles also haul out...More

Came at sunset and the beach wasn't packed. The black sand is pretty, and sea turtles like coming in around dusk. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any on the sand, because they were having trouble making it through the break!

Good size bay beach that’s not too crowded. There were a few turtles basking in the sun and they multiplied during the day. Lots of palm trees for shade, some picnic tables, snack and souvenir stands. This was the second time we have seen a...More

Generally they are more active at dusk. That would be the best time of day.
