About
Located on 24 beautiful acres in Mountain View, midway between Hilo and Volcanoes National Park, stands our farm, roasting building and retail sales facility. Come take a full tour of the farm (aprox. 1.5 hours) or a mini tour (aprox. 20 minutes) in our roasting room. Either way, it's fun for the whole family and you'll learn a lot about coffee, farming and even a little history. Kids won't even know they're learning because it's so much fun. Our hours are: Tuesday - Saturday 8:00am - 4:30pm. If you're here on a Saturday, be sure and visit our small farmers' market with big aloha, where you'll find some real treasures, great produce, a wonderful breakfast and some great local music. It truly is Mountain View's Favorite Gathering Place. Every Saturday from 9:00am until 2:00pm. We'd love to meet you!

Coffee stop
Apr 2021 • Friends
Great little stop for coffee and was surprised with a nice little farmer’s market with delicious food! My friends are still raving about the amazing Korean chicken they had. Whereas I was amazed with all the delicious baked goods.

Oh, The Coffee
Nov 2019
We stopped at the mill as part of another tour. I sampled the PeaBerry. I think from Java Estate Pancoer. Loved it! So smooth. I had a pound of it shipped back to Florida and I wish I would of purchased more. I was happy to dust off my old drip coffee maker and brew a pot when it arrived. OMG...one of the best coffees I've ever tasted! My friends think so too and they are not happy that I'm not sharing. Even better...their prices! This is great local coffee at a good priced. Thank you!

Wonderful atmosphere!

A must for a delightful experience! Be sure to take plenty of Hilo Coffee home. It’s amazing! We learned so much, and got to know plenty of new friends. Our host was great, and very friendly. Learning to make coffee was really fun! The samples were good, too! Thanks very much.

Not much to see
Nov 2019 • Couples
This is a small coffee and gift shop in a rural area. Besides the coffee shop there is another small building where it looks like they do packing and talk about the coffee making process. When we walked into the coffee shop we were the only customers there. I saw one employee who seemed disinterested in us. We didn’t see any coffee samples and no one asked if we would like to try any. We left without getting anything.

Aloha! I am so so sorry you felt that you were ignored on your visit to us. That certainly isn't the experience we train our team to give. Please accept my sincere apology. I appreciate you taking the time to give us your feedback, and while it isn't what we hope for, we do take these criticisms seriously and use them to improve our service. Would you please send me an email (jeanette@hilocoffeemill.com) to detail your visit (date, time) so I have a better idea on where to focus my training efforts. We are a small business and every customer counts. Again, I'm so sorry. How can I make it up to you?

You got to stop there
Sep 2019
We stopped at Hilo Coffee Mill on our way to Volcano national Park and are very happy that we did. We learned a lot about the different coffees of Hawai’i. Alan was a great host and showed his passion for coffee by explaining the different types of coffee, roasting methods and answered pretty much every questions we had about coffee. We got to sample three coffees and even got to checkout the roasting facility.

Hilo Coffee Mill visit
Mar 2019 • Couples
Has THE BEST latte at the Hilo Coffee Mill! Friendly staff. They have a great guided tour of their coffee bean drying and roasting process, we're talking 50 lb bags carried in by local farmers! There is also a local farmer's market on Saturdays, and some lovely landscaped grounds to walk through while you enjoy the latte!

To go with their great coffee's and tea's. I'm loving the larger 3" tea diffuser for iced tea pitchers. Thanks for having good accessories.

Pretty much ignored us
Dec 2017 • Family
My family and I were visiting the area over Christmas holiday. We stopped at the Hilo Coffee Mill on one of our daily outings, and asked about a tour. We were told that tours were only given to the bus tours and we could look around if we wanted to. We were made very uncomfortable while we were in the cafe/store to buy some ice cream and lattes. We definitely will drive to Kona next time for some aloha and coffee!

Don't believe the news. They are still open, just like many great destinations on this side of the island. Make sure to schedule your tour in advance online, but this place has some great local products to buy.

Where was the Kona coffee?
Jul 2018 • Family
First stop on a ship’s shore excursion here.

Great commentary on the coffee production process and tasting of two Maui coffees and a flavoured coffee.

The grounds are lovely with nice trees and coffee bushes.

The gift shop had lots of coffee products and macadamia nut goodies and we were offered tastings.

Despite this being a Kona Coffee producing farm and mill - there was no Kona coffee for tasting or sale at the cafe. What we were offered was delicious and the service was friendly.

Aloha belgaicas! Mahalo for your feedback, and for sharing your experience for other travelers. Perhaps we didn’t make it clear, but only coffee grown in the Kona district can be called Kona coffee. We are not located in the Kona district, but in the Puna district, a lesser known district for growing Hawaiian coffee. As we source coffee from all over the state of Hawaii, (the only US state to grow coffee commercially at this time), we usually have coffee sourced from a Kona farm. We realize that Kona coffee is a highly sought after coffee, and we offer it as an estate (single farm) and fresh roasted by us. If you would like, please check our website for availability of all our Hawaiian coffees. I hope this clarifies that we do have Kona coffee for sale, and I apologize for the miscommunication. -Jeanette
