We were collected by bus driver Tommy in front of the Kona Reef Resort and given an informative and humorous perspective of the Kailua-Kona area and Hwy 19 north to Kohala Mountain Road. The scenic coastal area soon changed to lava flows and dry desert-like moonscapes. Narrow pavement and shear drop-offs alond the road provided for some exicting moments. Thanks... More

This venue was part of the program in the corporate event I attended. I later found out that this is one of the activities offered to tourists visiting the Big Island. It is not your usual Hawaiian scenario of beach and surfing but a mountain ranch, horses kind of thing. Which is rather unusual if you think of Hawaii. It... More

As a person who has lives on the Big Island, I thought I had seen it all but nothing has prepared me to the beauty of the view at Kahua Ranch. The experience was just so spectacular!! Our driver picked us up from our Royal Sea Cliff place & drove to this huge ranch. Spent the next 3-4 hrs at the ranch where we ate steak & Chicken dinners with all the fixins including the macadamia nut cake for dessert.Enjoy open bar with beer, white or red wine & soft drinks if you don't like either of... Great food, paniolo (cowboy) activities, country music, line dancing ... good fun! It is up mauka (mountain) so dress warmly and do take the transportation option so you can enjoy the wine and beer and get home safely. You will have a great time.

Great place to watch the sunset on the mountain and then stargaze later. The family opens the ranch to sunset dinners on Wednesday nights which I suggest to go to. Great home cooking on a vacation with some good wine or beer. You get a quick taste of ranch life and meet there tamed boar who loves to eat bread.... More

My family of 6 enjoyed a great evening at the ranch. We had a jam packed 8 days on the island including zip lining, helicopter tour, manta dive and this ranked as one of the best nights. Very entertaining, Sue was a wonderful hostess and John Richards is great. Highly recommend, The Reitter's

I've lived here eight years and last night was the second time I've experienced this fun dinner. The first time was with my husband, my children (five and one) and my mother-in-law (we drove ourselves up to the ranch). We loved the cool climate and ranch style atmosphere; I loved being able to put on a warm sweater and cowboy... More

My family just spent an evening at the ranch it was great. The food was delicious and entertainment was good. They have a huge pet pig, couple dogs running around and a horse you can get your photo with. Great view for a sunset. Dress warm and wear something you don't mind wearing around a campfire.
