I havens seen such a beautiful sunset in forever! Great introduction to the history and uniqueness of ranching in Hawaii. Good food, all around, great steaks, good music, fun activities, ESPECIALLY THE TELESCOPE. There is only one line dance (if you count the electric slide as a line dance). No real dancing. Very mellow, relaxing evening, but if you are... More

We chose to drive our rental car from Kailua-Kona up the coast to Kahua Ranch and it was worth the trip. Beautiful scenery and the ability to make stops along the way. The only possible downside to driving yourself, is that there are no streetlights for most of the ride back, so you should be ok with night driving. Otherwise,... More

Long bus ride -2 hours each way plus non working bathrooms offset the good food. Great hosts but overpriced for value. Good for someone who had never visited a ranch

I’m conflicted about how I feel concerning this event but I can only recommend it with some caveat. The food was good, the atmosphere fun, the band playing country music did a fine job, there is a small area for dancing, the tables are more than adequate and I liked that they provided reserved seating for parties of 5 or... Take the shuttle up to the ranch to dine under the stars. You just cannot beat the views from the Kohala mountains!

The excursion getting to Kahua Ranch was lengthy, but when you get there all of the folks make it worth our while. We were received by beverages and opportunity to freshen up. Then we were presented with some history and levity from our host, really great speaker. The dinner was amazing, new your steak and chicken with all of the... More

We booked three adventures through Expedia at our Wyndham timeshare. Of the three, this was our least favorite. For nearly $150/person, this amounted to an extremely expensive buffet dinner. Yes, the views from the ranch might have been great but during our trip it was raining for some of the time and quite cloudy during some of the time. A... More

We booked for this event when being briefed on local attractions at Paniolo Greens Resort (discount for using Shell card). Both buses all but full, making over a hundred people on our evening. Great views and an interesting commentary on the way up to 3,500ft - we were literally in the clouds. Open bar dispensed drinks immediately on arrival and... More

This was a totally awesome evening. I didn't think the tour bus was ever going to get us there. The ranch is high above Waimea and gave us beautiful views of both mountains and the coast. The closer we got, we began to see cows and sheep in wide open pastures. We were greeted like family by John Richards. He... More

We opted for the sunset dinner at the Kahua ranch, mainly because we did a luau on Kauai and wanted to try something different. It was a wonderful evening and John and Sue and the crew were the best. After a quick discussion on ranching in Hawaii while the beer and wine were flowing freely, we had the best buffet... More
