You can tell from the other reviews that this is a great experience so I won't rehash that. We drove up ourselves and spent the afternoon in the town nearby. We went in the middle of March when the weather had been unusually bad, actually bad for our whole trip. We dressed warm and did not have any problems. We did not have a sunset per se nor could we see the stars but it was still a great experience. The only issue for us was the smoke from the campfire. I don't know if the wood was green or wet but there was a ton of smoke the entire evening. You couldn't really escape it because the wind would change direction. Fortunately my husband always carries his inhalator with him. On a sidenote, I am watching some old Magnum PI episodes on TV. We could swear that the November 7, 1985 episode called "paniolo " showed parts of Kahua Ranch, mainly the entrance where one makes a right turn to enter the property.

When we arrived we were greeted and provided beverages. We sat at a campfire and listened to an informative entertaining introduction to the current ranch industry. On to a wonderful dinner with music. There was a line dancing number, roping, star gazing, branding, some mores to eat. The host John Richards and hostess Sue were so engaging. It was a wonderful evening!

Good tim. Country western music preceded by a buffet dinner of tasty shredded beef and perfectly prepared juicy chicken, beans, corn, salad and more, and macadamia pie to to it off. Music, dancing top off a lovely evening on this mountain ranch.

Just had a wonderful experience. The view and sunset were amazing, the drive was beautiful as well. Great evening, delicious and plentiful food, genuine hospitality, live band, beverages for all. The view was the star. High up on the mountain (can get chilly), sunset was the first act, but when the sky darkened the stars came out. See why they call it the milky way. Fantastic night, great service and thanks to the host Sue for making us feel at home
