Our family of five from Texas and Oklahoma visited Oahu and the Big Island for Spring Break! The waterfall and area is Amazing!! I love waterfalls and this one did not disappoint! All the waterfalls around the Hilo area are Beautiful but this one and the area it was in was breathtaking!! We arrived shortly before they closed but the employees graciously let us enter anyways and we are Thankful for that! The falls are a short drive from the entrance and you can park right at the waterfall! Would definitely recommend this waterfall!!

This was my first time to zip line and I really enjoyed myself. I am local gal from this island and I would do it again. The staff, Sydney, Avery, Kayden, & Maika’i were awesome!!! Sydney & Avery were hilarious. Kayden was so friendly, come to find out he is my daughter’s classmate from Hilo High. Maika’i’s hospitality by sharing us the taste of different exotic fruits guava, ice cream bean, & starfruit.

We had trouble finding the place so maybe this will help - Look for the sign for the World Botanical Gardens on Hwy 19 near the 16 mile marker. Turn toward the mountain side on Old Mamalahoa Hwy. Umauma Falls & ZipLine Experience is just past the World Botanical Gardens on your right.

We ordered lunch at the snack bar in the Visitor Center and ate on their deck which had a wonderful view of the river. Then for $5 a person we drove to another parking lot and and walked around in the beautiful Tropical Garden of Peace. Next to the garden is a fantastic overlook of Umauma Falls! The walking map will show you multiple scenic points where you can view the falls.

Umauma Falls is breathtaking beautiful so do not miss it! If you unable or not interested in zip lining, you can still see the falls.

We were driving to Hilo and saw this on the map and decided to stop by for a look and hike. First, it is on private land, and they charge $10.00 to go "see" it. They have a 'Peace Garden" that you can hike to. We had 7 members in our party, one being under 12, so no charge. We paid $60. and were instructed to drive up to the parking area, then walk from there. It was a short drive. The falls were in the distance, and the lookout was from behind a railing. The "hike" was a small circular trail with broken bridges, caution tape and blocked off trails. It was totally disappointing. Not even access to the stream below. Don't waste your time and money!! There are many wonderful waterfalls and hiking trails along the same hwy. Kolekole Park right up the road was free and a blast for our crew, with falls, a rope swing, swimming and the ocean. On a better note, we told them at Umauma how disappointed we were and they promptly refunded our money. (We did not do the zipline....it was very expensive)

My husband and I like to Zipline around the world as it is a fun thing to do & puts you in some great places. This was my favorite.....partially because of the great crew who accompanied us on the 9 lines spread over some gorgeous real estate. Moku, Kalei, Kevin & Ryan were guys who knew how to have fun and had just the right mix of attention to safety & detail while still interacting with each person & adjusting the experience to each customer's level of comfort & daring. Want to hang upside down while traveling over an incredibly beautiful gorge....no problem, they'll show you how. However, if you aren't up to that, no problem, they'll set you up and calm you down. In summary: the crew was great, the area was lovely, there was a commitment to safety & comfort of the guest. A really fun thing to do no matter your level of fitness.

9 terrific zip lines, all different and one of the best activities on the Big Island.
We have done other Zip tours and this one had everything.
Spectacular scenery, and our guides were fun and knowledgeable . Felt very safe and our tour age range was 4 to 55 plus.
A++++ recommendation .

In our party, there were 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 12, 12, and nearly 14). We arrived early on July 4 (an hour ahead of time) and they were able to get us in an earlier time slot (very nice). The guides were FABULOUS. One of my girls was really scared and almost wouldn't go on the zipline (at the last moment). Kevin (one of the guides) really took her under his wing and helped her out - reduced her fear and boosted her confidence. He went above and beyond. All of the guides were great. Talked to us about the local native plants and fruit on the trail (I tried a lemon guava -it was to die for!!!!! So good). We had such an amazing time. I highly recommend this company. Safe, snack bar. Cool t-shirts, too. Fabulous sights. L O V E D it!!!! I want to go back!

The zip line crew was super knowledgeable, funny, and most of all made it safe and secure for even my 60 pound child ride alone on most of the lines! She tandemed on Two of them, which allowed her to zip fast and not be worried of falling or stopping on the parabola! Very friendly from check in to end! Made us all want to go again!

If you are driving to Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Gardens (a must-see in our opinion), be well advised to skip this place. It costs $12 per person in entry fees, and there really isn’t much to see other than the Umaumau Falls overlook. While those falls are really awesome to see (there are three falls one right after the other, great photo opportunity), the cost to get into the park and the lack of anything else worth seeing (unless you’re a zipline fan) is appalling. If they had a true garden and/or paired with a botanical garden site farther down the road (so you didn’t end up spending $50 for two people to see both), it ‘might’ be worth it, but our opinion: Save your money, download a pick of these falls, and you won’t have missed much at all.
