Wonderful Visit with the Owner
Aug 2019 • Family
My wife and I and our 20, 22 year old daughters had a great visit with Kimberly, one of the owners. We tasted tea, talked about the farm, and talked about what it’s like to live and work in this part of Hawaii. We were also treated to a visit by her daughter who brought us all flowers!

The tea is excellent. What made the visit outstanding was hearing about the farm, the way of life, and the mindset of the owners. They have created a serene space, and it was wonderful to be part of it for a few hours.

Fantastic tea tour and tasting!
Mar 2019 • Couples
My wife and I visited Mauna Kea Tea in March. We live in Waimea, about 20 minutes away. It can get a little confusing to find the place but Kimberly was able to get us there with great directions over the phone.

What a wonderful experience! This is a family-run tea farm and we were greeted by Kimberly and her young daughter. It was lightly raining so we didn't spend too much time out in the fields but that's ok. Once we entered the house, we knew we were in for something special. We tried several teas in a beautifully rustic setting. Nothing was rushed, everything was relaxed and not at all pretentious.

We purchased several teas and absolutely love the Green Tea with Ginger & Turmeric and Cacao. The Cacao is absolutely spectacular - I've never tasted a tea like that before. My go-to now is the Green Tea which I brew with a French Press and chill for Iced Tea. Absolutely perfect!

I think it's very important to interact with those who have a singular passion and are committed to producing the finest product possible. Mauna Kea Tea is a shining example of that and not to be missed!

Hospitality and green tea!
Jul 2018 • Couples
We ventured over to this boutique tea plantation without calling ahead. Although they were not open the owner, Kimberly, welcomed us and shared her and her husband’s story about their tea business. We also were able to purchase some different green teas while visiting. I highly recommend calling ahead to find out if they are open as their business is also their home. They are the balance of art and science as they produce unique green teas from their almost year round harvest. A lovely stop with some education about tea included! Thank you Kimberly! If they are not open you can visit their website to purchase their products.

Nice for tea lovers
Mar 2018
Stopped by here after calling ahead since I am a huge tea fan. They weren't doing tour that day and it was a bit rainy, but did get to try a tea and chat with the owner for a short while. He's very nice and pleasant but wasn't super talkative - answered questions but didn't offer a lot of info unless asked. Maybe the tours are different? We bought the ginseng green tea, which I'm still enjoying, along with some gift items. Tip: be sure to use their directions on their website to find - very detailed and made it easy. Wifi/GPS was very spotty so couldn't rely on that.

The Mauna Kea Team Farm is just a great place to visit and to learn so much about tea. Kimberly Ino knows and loves raising and serving the tea that is featured in this experience. You will love every moment and learn a lot along the way. Enjoy!

hidden gem

it took us a bit to find this place but glad we did. Interesting small tea farms on the side of a dormant volcano. Very informative and fun visit. I bought lots of their ginger turmeric green tea because it's so good. Will order more online when I've finished with this. My husband bought the licorice cocoa green tea.

So enjoyed my visit to Mauna Kea tea!
Jul 2017 • Couples
We had a wonderful tour and tasting with Kayla. She is knowledgeable and fun. We purchased a few teas after the tasting as they were delicious. I enjoyed the entire process of learning about each tea. We also visited with Kimberly one half of the couple who are stewards for this land. Such an quiet and beautiful place in the midst of a too busy world. It's good to know that such places thrive.

Nice Visit
Jun 2017 • Family
Per the website, I did a quick call ahead to make sure someone would be there. They welcomed us within a few minutes. The place is in a residential home with the office and tea tasting in the back. The worker who helped us was pleasant and told us some information on the tea and the plants. Overall a nice visit.

Interesting tour and delicate green tea tasting
Feb 2017 • Family
We took a group of visitors there on a lightly drizzling day. We all enjoyed the tour very much and learned a lot about the difference in green teas qualities along with health benefits. The delicious tasting of different teas was fun and educational. Highly recommend making a reservation for a tour and tasting.
