Gorgeous, though unfortunately we only saw this through the window of the Waipio on Horseback van on our way down to the valley. Would have been worth stopping, spending a few minutes to drink in the scene. After our horseback trip, my husband and I...More

You will find this stunning view at the end of the road. The view was stunning. Definitely with the trip. You can do a four wheel drive down to the valley. But we just stood at the lookout and took it all in

You overlook the big, deep Waipio Valley. Bring your camera. A powerful telephoto lens will be handy. The valley itself is only accessible if you have a real 4WD vehicle with a low gear range. Seriously! The road is INCREDIBLY steep and INCREDIBLY narrow. And...More

This is a beautiful Lookout and definitely worth the stop. There is a pretty decent grade to walk down to and up from the Lookout point. Breathtaking views!

This was our best view of anything on the big island so far. Parking was somewhat difficult it seems but we got lucky getting a spot up front :)

Definitely worth the trip to see this lookout over sheer cliffs covered in green, the valley leading to a beautiful black sand beach, and the waterfall in the distance. A "wow" moment!

The area is well kept and clean. The view is stunning. I highly recommend going there in 4WD in order go down the “road” to the bottom of The Valley. It’s not an easy drive down the mountain but so worth it. Many do the...More

On a drive from Waimea to Hilo, head north through Honokaa to the beautiful overlook of the Waipio Valley. You won't be disappointed.

We drove down to the very bottom and to the beach, but if you don't have a good car with 4 wheel drive, you should probably hike down. There is a black sand beach at the bottom and the whole place is absolutely beautiful.

Not much new to add - it is well worth the drive to see this view. Incredible - even on a cloudy day.

No reservations required! It’s got a very small parking lot so you will probably have to park on the street and walk back.
