While the boat is nice and comfortable, the trip was mostly filled with water watching. Last week we were on Kauai and saw at least 8 whale couples and spinner dolphins during a 4 hour dinner cruise, but this morning we only saw 2 couples of whales on a whale watching tour. It was an incredible let-down as this tour... More

This was our second time with Captain Dan both times we saw whales would absolutely recommend anyone to go out on the Lady Ann. When a big male swam under the boat it makes you realise how small we really are. Captain Dan is really knowledgeable and takes great pride in passing this on to his passengers also both girls... We were barely out of the harbor when we saw a mother and her calf, with spinner dolphins playing around them. We spent some time just watching them and learning about their habits and Captain Dan was right on with timing although the whales never really seemed to want to display their tails. We saw many while on the tour,... More

This was my second time with Dan McSweeny. His expertise on whales - their habitat, lives and the ability to not only locate but be in the right position to be as close as possible was obvious compared to other groups in the vicinity. They positioned themselves incorrectly and missed the Kodak moments. Dan's 40 years of whale research plays... More

I never thought I would have the chance to see whales in the ocean, in nature where they belong instead of stuffed in a miserable aquarium tank, but Captain Dan's whale boat made my dreams come true! We spotted many whales on my trip last week, and got to see whales spouting, slapping their fins and tails, and even jumping... More

We went on the early morning tour in January of 2016. We saw a group of whale (4-5) and followed them for about an hour. The young male was splashing around and showing off. Also saw a Bottle nosed dolphin with the group of whale. Saw a beautiful sunrise over the mountains. As we pulled into the dock we saw... More

Third time we've been out with Capt. Dan & it was great as always. Saw several breaching whales as well as tails. Watched some awesome flipper slapping as well. Capt. Dan's knowledge of the whales is a treat as he talks about them. We are always pleased with this experience and recommend it to anyone who visits the Big Island.

This was a great tour. There are two tours each day both piloted by Captain Dan and his two assistants. We opted to do both tours on the same day. We did not want to miss any of the action in case one tour had more activity then the other. We're glad we did, as the early morning tour proved... More

We went on the early morning whale watch in Jan 2016, so in addition to seeing whales we got to see the sunrise while on the ocean. Captain Dan and crew were friendly and knowledgeable. They provided a fun and educational experience with a variety and abundance of treats. We saw quite a few whales spouting, flapping their fins and... More
