Overall, the experience at Hula Daddy was great. The people were super nice and do a nice job explaining the history of the farm and the process to grow beans. The tour is also really small, only four others with us which was nice. The coffee is excellent (albeit overpriced for our needs, 1lb ranged from $60-$90), but we enjoyed our samples from a little station where you can test the day’s brew. Only knock on the tour was there wasn’t a ton of detail given from the field to roast stage. While I’m sure there are portions that are proprietary and they are not roasting every day, it would have been nice to see. Still a great tour and highly recommend!

This truly is a family farm with husband and wife running every aspect. They grow a handful of different types of beans on different parcels and pick, wash, roast and package on site.
They have won several international awards with their product and because their house roaster takes copious notes of every batch, they can duplicate the winning formula for us mere humans to buy and brew at home.
We bought one each of a handful of bags and will see how well our notes match theirs.

We had a great tour with Karen (the farm owner), she really knows her stuff and definitely has an incredible drive to produce the BEST Kona coffee out there. She took us from the plant fields to the roaster to the shipping area, and it is all done by her incredible staff onsite. Highly recommended stop on the Big Island. Thank you so much!

We signed up for the tour which was provided by the owner. She is very dedicated to producing competition grade coffee. We learned a lot about the process from picking to roasting. It's a good overview of how a moderate sized coffee farm works in Kona. There is not a lot of walking on the tour although some of it is outside where the coffee trees are growing. Their hours are limited as their focus is on coffee production more than tourism.

Karen was super welcoming and knowledgeable. Her coffee farm is warm and open, and the tour was very informative and interesting. Seeing the coffee at all stages, from tree to freshly brewed cup, was a treat. I highly recommend visiting this farm for some amazing coffee and knowledge. Their high standards are evident in the way they present and compete with their product. Brewing this coffee at home brings me right back to Hawaii every morning!

Award winning coffee. Tasting room has beautiful view of Kailua Kona. They do a tour of their farm and roasting works; but it is not free(it should be) like some of the other coffee farms. Cannot buy decaf Kona coffee here. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Fun tour at about 1500 feet, overlooking the Ocean, Beach and Kona area.
They fight off the goats and feral pigs and harvest some damn good coffee.
The ride up from the resort areas is fascinating in that we don’t have roads at that angle in Illinois. Felt like we were going straight up at times 😬
Recommended stop if you’re on the Big Island.

We stopped in at Hula Daddy Kona Coffee as I had read it offered one of the better tours. Unfortunately, we just missed the beginning of a tour, but the staff was very welcoming and the views from the store were beautiful as the store is a bit up the mountain. We didn’t buy any coffee as the prices were definitely out of our price range ($96 per pound). We were still glad we stopped and we enjoyed the views and the drive up the mountain.

Their price is higher than most. No discounts. No specials. No Costco versions. No ads. They only open for 3 hours. Even so, they sell out and you have to get on the waitlist for special batches. Why? They have great coffee - it's the best Kona coffee I have tasted. I tried about 10. Several coffee makers have consistently recommended their coffees. Unsolicited. Also, they have won numerous awards. What’s interesting to me is their story and their 20 year journey to perfected their coffee beans and the roasting process. it's Kaizen at its best. When you visit, you will probably meet Lee and Karen, the owners. Both are down to earth. Super nice people. Read their story on their website. Highly recommend this place.

We chose this tour of all the local Kona coffee farms based on online reviews. The tour was a small group (book in advance) and was led by Karen, one of the farm’s owners. She provided a thorough detailing of the growing and roasting process and the exacting process the owners follow. We were lucky to see the berries on the trees and to taste the final product. They make a fantastic coffee — very special. I would highly recommend this if you are interested in coffee. Fun tour.

How long does the tour take? Is it free along with samples?

Aloha The tour is free and so are the coffee samples. The tours last about 30 minutes. However, we offer the tour the visitor wants not the tour we want to do. So sometimes tours can be shorter and sometimes longer depending on you. Mahalo Karen
