This gem of a botanical garden is a must see if you're at all interested in plants, gardens, and scenic vistas. I had heard about this garden for years, so I was thrilled on our first visit to the Hawaiian Islands to get a chance to visit here. There is plenty of interpretive signage for those who want to know... More

We spent about an hour strolling these gardens. It is well planted and the orchids were wonderful. We all agreed it was worth the stop!

These gardens are worth a visit if you love plants and especially if you haven't experienced tropical plants. You also get some awesome ocean views to boot. The charge is $15. There is fairly adequate parking. You have to take the scenic road off of Route 19 to find it. This is an oldcroad and very narrow. No signs until... More

This place is a must do in Hilo area. it will take at least an hour to visit the entire garden, more likely 2-3 hours. Wonderful species of plants, very peaceful, breathtaking ocean views. Loved it!

Orchids, calatheas, bamboo, birds of paradise, and many, many more.... all lush and growing exuberantly. The steep descent and return can be alleviated by the golf cart service for people with weak knees and age.

We came across these by accident, and drove through several times. Only once did we pay to walk the gardens. Beautiful, but no handicap access, very steep trails and stairs. Worth it if you can make it

This place is amazing!!!! True, there was and enrty fee, but someone has to be paid to maintain the gardens the way they were. We spent about 3 hours here in the pouring rain, and I waould do it again in a heartbeat. A beautiful garden in a beautiful cove. This must be what heaven looks like

If you really want to see and identify the tropical plants found on the Big Island this is the place to go. It is beautiful and tastefully done. In the past at this time of year I have seen whales breaching in the water around the bay. The hike out can be strenuous but they do have carts to help... More

Like many other I can only repeat. Fantastic rooms. Zen style. Nice tropical garden. Very nice host with right balance of "being available" when you need him and enough privacy. Outstanding breakfast.
