Started out with a 8:30am pick up and was traveling with my partner. We ended up with only 6 people in our van that can hold 14, we we had a good chance to get to know each of our fellow travelers. The best part was our guide, Jeannette. She was full of enthusiasm and had a great knowledge of so many Hawaiian history points and very easy to ask questions with. Right up u till the end she was great. You would be lucky to have her as you guild! We drove the island counterclockwise from the Kona area to start and stopped a number of awesome spots. We saw turtles, calderas, huge waterfalls, tropical forest, a chocolate shop! A wonderful wine tasting and lunch break....and so much more.....would recommend to anyone who what’s to see the whole island, and then perhaps go back to a favorite place! (And do tip the drivers, they do a fantastic job and tips are what they work for) Anyway, you will not be disappointed.

This all day trip is an investment that is totally worth it! Eric was our guide and picked us up promptly from our resort in the morning. He was a great driver, extremely knowledgeable about Hawai'i and volcanoes, and was a very nice person! He answered all of our questions and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable for the day.

We visited a local Kona coffee farm, the southernmost bakery in the whole US, a black sand beach, and spent half a day at the Volcano National Park visiting an active volcano, walking through a lava tube, and exploring a previous eruption site.

If you want a unique tour of the Big Island that you can't get anywhere else, I can't recommend KapohoKine Adventures enough for your itinerary!

Our guide JP was so funny and knowledgeable about the island...he really catered to us and made this day so special. Leah, Ona and Kyle made our zipline experience incredible even through some fear - they were hilarious and brave and it made it easy to fly through and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Our badass lady pilot (Sarah I think) was so cool and comfortable flying...we couldn't believe how smooth the ride was. The volcano winery went above and beyond with the tastings and tour...dinner was awesome. What a perfect day

Do this! The guides are amazing. Views of waterfalls are extraordinary!!! Very safe. My kids (age 7 and 9) had a ball. I am not a fan of heights and also loved it. Worth every penny...even in the pouring rain. I recommend a clear waterproof phone pouch wearable around your neck or wrist so you can take videos and photos without worrying about dropping your phone!!!

My husband and I visited the Big Island of Hawaii on our honeymoon and participated in the Evening Volcano Explorer. It was an incredible day, especially thanks to our guide Jaclyn (sorry if that's misspelled!). She was funny, so knowledgable, and was flexible based on our group's needs. During this tour we were able to visit a coffee farm, see a black sand beach with sea turtles (honu), try a malasada from the southernmost bakery in the United States, hike cooled volcanic flow and actually see the glow of the active lava lake! It was an awesome way to experience the Big Island and we would definitely recommend for couples, individuals or families!

We did the Hilo Crater Hike and Waterfall tour booked through Norwegian's Pride of America cruise ship. Our tour guide, Marcus, was amazingly professional and knowledgeable about everything on the tour, and any other Hawaii questions we could think to ask. The way he describes KapohoKine's business practices, you can't go wrong with any of their guides and tours. A rainstorm began just as we started to walk up the crater trail. Marcus provided rain ponchos to the few who didn't bring them, and escorted the slowest persons in our group up the trail through a river of water coming down the pathway.

My sister and I decided to spend our first full day on the Big Island taking the all island tour. Our tour guide, Marcus, was fabulous! Marcus was knowledgeable, personable, and dedicated to his job. Marcus' appreciation for the history of the Big Island and his dedication to helping visitors to appreciate that history and what makes the Big Island unique and special, was evident in his story-telling and in his demeanor. He treated us to extra stops due to our ability as a group to return from our excursions within, and in many cases, earlier than the scheduled times. When we first learned that the trip would be 12 hours, we could not imagine how we would make it, but by the end, we felt like we could easily go home feeling as if we had taken full advantage of what the Big Island has to offer visitors. It made the rest of our trip easy to plan. My sister and I have each taken destination tours around the world, and this one from Marcus was simply the best. Could not recommend it more highly!

this was a tour booked as an excursion through Norwegian Cruise Lines.. No mention was made about required clothing for this and upon arriving at the meeting place we were informed we would need closed toe shoes. We had to RUN back to the ship, reboard, change shoes and race back to the off ship meeting point before the group left. Was a small group and Tori and Chris were our guide and driver. First stop was rainbow waterfall with plenty of time to walk around and take pictures. Next was drive to Volcanoes National Park. Wonderful opportunity to drive some of the rim and then hike down to the actual crater. Once back to the rim encouraged and given time to take in the awesome ocean views from inside Hula House Hotel as well as outside on the grounds. Enjoyed seeing and hearing the history of the banyan tree drive. Box lunch provided and consumed in a shady park with opportunity to tour a small art gallery. Did not feel the tour description emphasized the actual activity level of this hike. Be prepared to walk down numerous switchbacks to get to the crater and then obviously hiking back up to the rim is just as steep as the trip down. Totally worth it as long as you are forewarned about the exertion level.

Review of the evening volcano tour-
I’m having a hard time with this review because we honestly had a great time. We felt all of the stops were fun and interesting, and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The issue won’t the trip boils down to two things. This first is that we were given a “free” hour at the volcanos national park visitors center, but it was closed. We were told to go to the art gallery which was closed, then to the volcano house which was completely booked and wouldn’t let us in anywhere except one gift shop. The other issue is that we specifically booked this excursion because we were very excited to eat at the volcano winery. That is honestly the thing that pushed us over the edge to choose this instead of other excursions. This portion of the tour was cancelled the day before and replaced with deli sandwiches from a grocery store. I know that things change, but replacing a winery dinner and tour with deli sandwiches is not comparable.

I’m conclusion, this was a great trip but not as advertised
