I am a woodworker and followed another's recommendation to visit the Hilo Woodturners exhibit at the Wailoa Center. There are a lot of excellent artist and skilled craftsmen in Hawaii, and this exhibit lived up to the recommendation. Further, the Wailoa Center seems nicely designed as a gallery for many types of art exhibits and is worth a visit.

This Center has a whole lot of local Artist shows but it is truely a lucky day if you show up while a art show is going on. Very Poor Management of the Center.

We stumbled into the Wailoa Center when we needed to get our bearings after driving over the Saddle Road from Kona. The center was hosting its 10x10x10 art exhibit, ten local artists, ten spaces and ten materials. The pieces were neat but I feel in love with the building. The park in which the center is located is also nice to walk about in and stretch your legs. We actually stopped there again when we came through Hilo a second time.

There is often a display of works, such as wood turning, photography, musical instruments, and paintings, often by local artists, in this unique building off the bay front in Hilo. And it's free!

The community center was closed when we stopped by the park to enjoy a picnic dinner one evening. While we were not able to enter the building, we did throughly enjoy the Veterans area on the grounds and the tribute to the fallen soldiers from the Big Island. Very Moving. Highly Recommended
