Coconut Island is very small but pretty. There are several picnic areas, bathrooms on site and swimming. Also some people fishing. The area is relatively quiet, not a lot of tourist hanging out, just walking around.

neat island, very small, a lot of people visit here, we looked up what it meant to Hilo and why it was there, it is a cute little park, but more interesting if you know why it is there and what existed there prior.

If you go to Liliuokalani Park and Gardens, then take the short walk over the bridge to Coconut Island. This small island is immaculately maintained. As with my review of the Liliuokalani Gardens, the attached pictures will say more than any words I can write.

This Island has historical significance but, I couldn't find any markers to indicate its place in history so, ask locals about it. I hope by the time I re-visit this lovely little spot, Hilo will have something published about what the island 's historic story...More

Lovely location. Easy to walk to if you're staying at the Hilo Hawaiian or Uncle Billys. If you're running/walking on Banyan Road don't miss going over the bridge to see this location.

Known as Moku Ola in Hawaiian, this is a truly special place. Connected by a footbridge to Hawai`i Island, Moku Ola has a picnic area, restrooms, outdoor, saltwater rise-off showers, and best of all, an old diving platform that locals and visitors alike use to...More
