Great for those who cannot walk or explore far.

There is a free parking lot and easy paved access to see the falls. It's a busy place so keep your kids close. You can easily plan visit to Hilo and include this spot.

A quick stop at this site as part of a Lavaland Hawaii tour. Nice falls. Short walk to top of the falls for a better view.

We visited this fall after Akaka Falls. Those two have different atmosphere and we enjoyed both falls. You had better to visit in the morning as there are big possibility to see a beautiful rainbow!

We only had about an hour to spare before our flight out of Hilo. Another traveler told us that Rainbow Falls was really a really easy sight to see. They were correct! You pull into a parking lot only have to walk a couple of yards to an overlook to see the falls. There are actually two platforms to view... More

These falls, and Akaka, face east, and to see a rainbow the sun must be behind you. We were cursed with clouds during our visit (which broke 5 minutes after we left), but we had brilliant sun for Akaka, and were treated to a pretty rainbow. Without a rainbow, the highlight of the visit was walking up the hill to... More

After reading the reviews here on Trippet visor we decided to stop at rainbow Falls on our day adventuring this side of the island. We happened to arrive at the best time around 10 AM. Adjusting where we stood we finally saw the rainbow at the bottom of the waterfall. This was a nice, free and enjoyable stop.

The waterfall is beautiful and a very short walk from the parking area. Be aware that you need sunshine to capture a rainbow about the falls.

Rainbow falls was close to our hotel so we drove there twice. Once was on a gloomy day, didn't see the rainbow. We went on a nice sunny day, didn't see the rainbow over the falls. The falls is ok, not a must see but a nice stop in if nearby.

Really easy to see without much walking where as some other falls in the area require more effort to see.

Definitely a good sight to see. The falls were really full this time, and it was very impressive. If you have time go up the road and see as much of the falls as you can. That river has many falls.
