A Hilo Highlight

A large beautiful waterfall over a lava cave. Paths are an easy walk through lots of lush greenery. A lovely cool spot to stop at on a hot day.

This was so easy to get to and see which was important because we couldn't walk much (bad knees). It was beautiful.

Rainbow Falls is a beautiful waterfall that tumbles over a huge lava cave right in the middle of Hilo. It is immediately off the parking lot, so it is not in a beautiful natural setting, but almost feels like a man-made feature - except it's not. Expect tour buses and lots and lots of people. It is a quick stop... More

Beautiful place; the rainbow was just awesome. There is also river, where you can take a short walk nearby.

The falls are right behind the Hilo Hospital, where we spent three days before going to our training site in Pepe'ekeo.

Nice place to visit when you're near Hilo. We weren't fortunate enough to see a Rainbow but it is still very pretty.

We didn't see a rainbow but great experience nonetheless. Lust and green with a great view of the waterfall from the top of the park. Do wander down and see the very climbable banyan trees.

There is an overlook one can observe the falls closer and get a view of the river as well. It does not take much time to do and if one is in the area it is interesting.
