Worth the short drive in through Hilo, this small park features not only the beautiful Falls, but also the amazing, huge Banyan tree (one of the largest and oldest on the Big Island) up the path to the left of the Falls. Don't miss it.

We parked and walked a very short distance to the falls. It’s paved and has a ramp for strollers or wheelchairs. It’s basically a lookout point... not a hike or anything that would take a long time or becstrenuous. But I’m glad we went. Grounds...More

As subject line. And it was free. Lovely to sit a watch for a few minutes. Awkward to find without sat nav though.... the direction I took started off down what looked likes a dead end road.

No harm in stopping here as it was free and only took about 5 minutes, but Akaka Falls is more breathtaking. Rainbows apparently only in the early morning. The trees to the left of the falls were amazing however although we couldn't tell whether we...More

Pull up in the parking lot and it’s right there. The falls are wheelchair accessible and free. Come around 9:30 for the best chance to see rainbows.
