This was a decent place. Nothing spectacular. The pool water was warm despite the sun beating down on it. The smell wasn’t that bad outside but inside it was strong. You have to get past that smell to enjoy the inside pool. The slide was open but you get stuck in it if very few people went down it. The life guard didn’t look to enthused to be at work. I think she liked yelling at the kids to stop running even though they should be and spraying they extremely hot concrete by the entrance to bout side and inside. Other than that it was an enjoyable time for us both.

Nice place. Reasonable entrance fee. Suits ans towels available to rent. Indoor and outdoor pools. Outdoor pool was about 98° and fairly large. Chairs and loungers on the deck. One large indoor pool w smaller soaking polls with higher temperature water. Changing rooms were clean and had lockers available. Friendly staff. Great place for families.

Not bad. It’s a little tired looking, and the staff wasn’t the friendliest. The pools and hot tubs felt wonderful after a couple of long days at Yellowstone. Very few people there so it was very relaxing. Was originally planning on going to Star Plunge but it looked pretty busy and we just wanted to relax and soak so we made a good choice. For $30 for 2 adults it was well worth it.

Our family visited Teepee Pools in April 2021 and enjoyed the soothing mineral pools and hot tubs. So lovely relaxing in a hot pool when it’s chilly outdoors. Sadly, the slide was closed for maintenance and kids couldn’t use it. Otherwise it’s a great place to relax.

We enjoyed an excellent soak in the outdoor pools (3 different temps). Almost instant relief from muscle pain. Great water, not drying like many hot springs. Best for adults. The indoor area is on the stinky side.

My adult daughter and her husband live in Wyoming and they wanted us to visit Thermopolis on Labor Day and swim in the hot springs. Well, you don't actually swim in the hot springs, but you can go to the public park's small pool, or one of two privately owned facilities with many more amenities. While the TeePee is the oldest of the two, my daughter and her hubby and friends have been there multiple times and really liked it. It's been in the same family for about four generations.
The good stuff first: If you didn't bring a suit, you can rent or buy one there. Same with all types of water toys and floats.
There are indoor and outdoor pools of multiple sizes and temperatures, hot tubs with decent jets, an indoor and outdoor slide (the outdoor was pretty long), a dry sauna and steam room with water coming directly from the mineral hot springs. The steam room water flowed into the larger indoor pool via a "waterfall" under which you could kneel and let it beat on your shoulders (AHHH!).
There was a chart when you enter with the temperatures of all the pools, and they were taken regularly (I think every half-hour) throughout the day. Pool and hot tub water ranged in temperature from about 87 degrees to 106 degrees. The hottest one was too warm for me to spend much time, but my hubby loved it!
The water has minerals in it. Keep that in mind. It's a natural source of mineral water, so there also are small flecks of algae that grow in the springs. There is less in the outside pool than the inside pool. Don't look at the water and think "Ick!" That's the way it is supposed to be. And there isn't that much, just a "floater" every now and again.
My daughter and I enjoyed the slides, which were used by tiny kids all the way to grown men. There were basketball goals set up inside and outside (and even in the kid's pool), with floats and balls around the pools for public use.
My favorite was the cooler outdoor hot tub. I nearly fell asleep in there with the jets easing my back and shoulders! Good thing I didn't discover it until later in the day or I wouldn't have spent much time elsewhere.
The steam room was too hot for me, and I'm not much for saunas. But they were available with nice wooden benches if that's your thing.
There were plenty of lifeguards stationed inside and out, so if you have kids, there are other eyes helping you watch.
There are men's and women's showers and dressing rooms. They were old and a little run down, but they were clean. The water pressure in the showers was really good, and there was plenty of hot (city) water. There were lockers for 50 cents to stash your stuff while you went in the pools.
There are ramps and handrails into most of the pools, so young and old can easily get in and out. There also are ladders and steps.
The bad stuff (and it wasn't really bad): When we first walked in I was a little disappointed, but I think it was the sulpher smell of the water that gave me that initial impression. The kids had warned me about the smell, but you get used to it pretty quickly.
Again, this is an older facility, and while it could use some TLC and a fresh coat of paint, but everything was in working order, safe, and clean.
The minerals from the springs build up on the sides and anywhere the water meets the air. That gives the pool areas a look of "unkempness" that is just part of the nature of mineral water. However, I can see how some people would think that unsightly. I thought it was pretty cool when I got close and really looked at it.
All in all, I'm looking forward to going back again, especially this winter when the kids say the steam rises off of the pools and you can stay toasty warm under the waters.
PS Of course natural mineral hot springs are supposed to have medicinal properties. This has been purported from the time of the Native American usage until today. These springs have attracted tourists to the "healing" waters for generations, so don't be surprised if you feel a little better when you leave, whether mentally or physically!

I went just to see if what I have heard is accurate.... The pools were dirty and the whole place dated and yucky. This is what happens when owners milk it instead of putting money into needed upgrades.

We stop in Thermopolis for a quiet couple of days on a road trip. We felt we really had to visit one of the hot springs pools while we were there. This got our vote for two reasons.
Firstly, the state pool is free, but only allows you 20 minutes. Secondly, the other pool (Star Plunge) looks maybe a little more up to date, but apparently adds chemicals to the water. At Tepee Pools they don't, the water is straight out of the hot springs.
Okay, so it is definitely looking a little tired. The minerals in the water must be a nightmare to deal with as they want to coat everything. That said, the water was clean, as were the changing rooms, and the staff were uniformly pleasant and helpful.
There is a large indoor pool, and a very slightly smaller outdoor one. Both are about the temperature of a nice warm bath. Seriously, if you've ever laid in your bath and wondered what it would be like if you could swim in it, this is your chance to find out.
There are also several smaller spa pools, in which the water is a much higher temperature, I believe just over 100 F. These are great for soothing aching muscles.
They have two slides but don't go for those. They aren't the best, and frankly you shouldn't be visiting for that sort of thing.
There are plenty of recliners scattered about the place, and we spent a really peaceful afternoon alternating swimming in the lovely water and lounging poolside reading our books. We would've stayed longer but we got hungry!

We chose to go here on day 3 of our vacation and were very disappointed. We were a group of 4 (2 adults, a 3 yr old and a 12 yr old). The prices were outrageous, but we knew that before arriving.
My biggest thing was that the water was so dirty inside (we didn't try the outside pool). There were floaties (looked like dead skin) ALL over the pool. If I would've went here before the Star Plunge I'm not sure we would've went to the Star Plunge, but luckily we did. The Star Plunge was very clean, in both the indoor and outdoor pools and we spent almost 2 1/2 hours there, where we spent barely over an hour here at Hellie's TePee Pools.
The changing area was small and had to wait for a shower as there were not enough.
If we ever came back to Thermopolis, we would go back to the Star Plunge in a second but would NOT goto Hellie's TePee Pools!!!

Visited during a road trip in October 2019. Spent a good few hours relaxing in the hot pools and steam cave. Floating outside in the large pool was a wonderful experience, if a little chilly when you got out of the lovely warm thermal water. The entrance fee allowed for a return to the pool later in the evening. Great value for money.
