While getting out of town and exploring the area around Story Wyoming we stopped at the Fish Hatchery. It was a self guided "tour". Place was interesting and gave us a chance to walk around after eating lunch at a local restaurant. There is a nearby trail that can be easily hiked along the creek that feeds water to the... More

This fish hatchery is less than 20 miles North of Buffalo WY. and it is worth the drive. The setting is beautiful and educational. It is fun to feed the fish, so be sure and take a couple of quarters. Large picnic area by the flowing river with lots of trees and rocks. We weren't fortunate enough to see the... More

We stayed in nearby Sheridan and heard about the fish hatchery from some local residents, and I'm so glad we checked it out. Sara, the wildlife biologist on staff the day we visited, was so friendly and knowledgeable, and took the time to show us around and answer our questions. She clearly takes pride in her work. We followed that... More

Fun and educational side trip on our National Parks tour. Not far from Sheridan, Wy. Interesting for both adults and kids. Worth the visit.

A nice place to go for something different. You can see the fish at different stages in their lives. The small fish are inside the building, and the large fish are in the pond. You can feed the large fish- which is the most entertaining part! The short walking paths to the other ponds are very nice.

The fish hatchery is not big, but the fish are! The staff are very knowledgably and helpful throughout the tour. Make sure you bring some quarters to feed the fish!

I have always loved the small mountain community of Story, and the fish hatchery is just one of many reasons. Great place to visit as the staff is very engaging. Enjoy a lunch picnic in the trees and a hike up the story trail. Makes a for perfect day!!

Aside from the bright blue Wyoming skys, Story has only a few sights to see and one of them is the Hatchery. Little did I realize that the fish and game commission would really need to produce fish but... here it is in living color. It's quite interesting indeed.

This is a great place to take the young kids for a little adventure. It's small but they have a feeding pond where you buy fish food for a quarter. My preschooler loved it! The visitor's center has a few cool exhibits and you can see the fish spawning process. It's all free except the fish food. We like to... More
