Constructed in 1892, the Historic Sheridan Inn gave adventurous travelers a taste of Eastern luxury in the West. Through the years, the Inn has remained a hub of activity, offering elegant New Year's Eve balls and the town's first electric lights. Buffalo Bill Cody sat on the front porch of the Inn auditioning acts to join the "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show." The Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places. In October 2013, Bob and Dana Townsend became the newest owners of the Inn, bringing 21st century luxury to the 19th century building. The Inn is now open for overnight stays, banquets and tours. Lunch and dinner are also served in the Open Range Restaurant.

Chose this hotel as a key destination on a 10-day western trip. Expensive, but it's unique and we enjoyed our stay. Weather was warm but the breeze on the big front porch made it comfortable enough for a domino game both pre- and post-dinner. The "Broncho Billy" room (yes, that's the way they spelled 'bronco') was comfortable; good bed, nice... More

I had the steak salad with blue cheese, it was delicious. Daughter had pulled chicken rice soup and salad, soup was fantastic and the Apple vinaigrette was a highlight! Husband had a burger and fries, he was well satisfied with the taste and portion. Service great, atmosphere clean and relaxing. Price was fair...if ever again in town, this is in... More

Wonderfully renovated in the 19th century style. The only disappointment was the long wait in the restaurant for dinner, which could be excused as they were very busy, but the cold potatoes on my plate and missing mushrooms on my friends with only a token apology could not.

The Sheridan Inn was opened in 1893 and has the original bar and many other original pieces. Buffalo Bill was part owner. Don't miss this fabulous historical treasure!! You can stay in the restored rooms as travelers did in the late 1800's. Within the inn is the Open Range Restaurant, with delicious food and good service.

This is a renovated National Historic Landmark hotel that has been meticulously brought back to its 19th century original condition. Purportedly Buffalo Bill Cody was one of the initial owners and actually managed the hotel for a time. Each room has been restored and is furnished in period pieces, reflecting the understated elegance of a bygone era. There's a full-service... More

Booked this based on reviews. I will preface I travel frequently and enjoy staying off the beaten path. Arrived late around 11:15 pm, had notified office of late arrival when booking. Arrived to a dark inn, only one light on that we could see. There were no visible lights on anywhere and parking lot poorly lit. No cars in parking... More

We understand your perspective, however your review, in our opinion, is very unreasonable. When you pulled up in the unloading area 50' from the front door there was a street light there along with a number of other lights around the general area, plus, there are, and were, lights lit all along the 150' porch and veranda. With a late... More

Wonderful historic hotel with welcoming atmosphere and modern amenities. Stayed one night while passing thru the area on vacation. Family very glad that we stumbled on this gem. Also got lucky by being here for 124th anniversary celebration with live country band entertaining from the huge front porch. Stayed in Buffalo Bill Cody room. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through... More

Extremely well done restoration. Pricy but worth it. Continental breakfast Spartan. Will probably be busy in summer with yellowstone travelers.

After enjoying three nights in a rustic forest service cabin, we ventured to Sheridan to stay at this inn. It was such a delight we ended up staying an extra night. Unfortunately, the room we used for our first night’s say was unavailable for the second night. Fortunately, that meant we got to enjoy two entirely different room styles. We... More
