Worth our time & the rough (but passable in our car) road, and we did see 7 horses, some deer & pronghorn, a grouse & a rabbit...but I wouldn't encourage 'casual tourists' to try it...

If you have a vehicle that can go a little off road, it will really enhance your visit. You can get fairly close to some of the family groups, but don't crowd them, please. Beautiful creatures of varying heritage, but all wild now.

We drove on the loop for a good couple of hours in the middle of the day and saw about 6 wild horses from a far, and 2 up close. The view of the rocks from the hills were gorgeous.

So hubby took a nap... I couldn’t pass up a sign that said Wild Horse Scenic Loop! Loved every minute. Gravel road with gullies so our Honda Pilot did ok driving strategically! We went off again to Pilot butte and hiked it! It was some...More

Great place to see Wild Mustangs. The South end of the road has been improved along with the Rock Springs access. Could still be muddy during wet weather. Nice easy access from Green River.

Beautiful scenery but but didn’t see any animals other than a few gophers. Long drive that I could see from the freeway

We recently drove the Wild Horse scenic loop in southern Wyoming. It was a beautiful day, there was not another car on the route, and we ended up being able to get within a few feet of some of the wild horses. The scenery was...More

We did this drive as thunderstorms were starting to move into the area, so it was cold, windy, and drizzly when we would stop and get out of the car to view the bands of horses we saw. It took about 90 minutes to drive...More

Wild horse scenic loop: did not see any horses but the views from the top of the butte were nice. Took a very steep road down which was unnerving. Would have skipped this and spent longer at the flaming gorge. There were many places along...More

This is a must if traveling through Wyoming. Have plenty of gas and binoculars. Do not attempt in the winter. Gravel roads that wind through the mountains. The horses are a unbelievable sight of true beauty and freedom.

We took the route from green river to 191 in august. The road is wide, and smooth that time of year where any car would have no trouble. The herds we saw were around the middle/highest part of the route.

In early October we saw a herd beside the road at midday and had lunch in Rock Springs after.
