Amazing views throughout the whole year and great place to hike and take pictures! Go before November as roads will be closed throughout the winter until the snow melts in the spring!

Spent half a day going from one scenic vista to another. The mountains tower over several lakes and there are numerous trails to hike from easy to difficult. I didn't see much wildlife but was lucky to see a wolf and a deer.

Hiking in the national forest is excellent - there are people around but it is not crowded. We started at a trailhead in the Lewis lake picnic area. It is mostly at or above treeline. Good hiking, though you have to cross boulder fields in...More

Really beautiful drive through Medicine Bow NF. Campgrounds are full on the weekend, at least on the Laramie side of the Snowy Range.

This was a great trip. The ride through the Snowy Range Scenic Byway is breathtaking. Great views and many nice easy hikes for families. Also, many nice picnic areas for families to enjoy.

We took our 4 kids, ages 6-17 on a backpacking trip along the Alpine Lakes loop (11 miles). The scenery was stunning. There were majestic mountain views and serene, peaceful alpine lakes and meadows. We camped at a lovely site at Shelf Lake 2. We...More

It was more beautiful than the pictures, great 2 days, sunny and 70's till you reached the higher elevations. We made snowballs in shirt sleeves. We loved Mirror Lake and Lake Mariei, so clean and pristine!

We also visited areas near highway130. Mirror Lake and Lake Marie are beautiful. We did use highway 40 through the forest to hightail it from Vernal, UT back to Denver. It was pretty but I don't think it offered much for... More

At least 30 minutes if you’re just driving through. If you want to explore down all the side roads to the spots (some are quite long) probably at least 2-3 hours. It’s easy to get turned around in there when you’re checking... More
