I have fished with Nate on, now, seven different days. This most recent trip was to be special. I was to travel to Jackson, WY with my young adult son for some fantastic dry fly fishing on the Snake in early July. COVID hit and everything changed. My son’s schedule changed and we were not going to be able to go. He did, however, have some time in mid May. I called Nate to discuss fishing opportunities knowing the Snake and Green as well as all tributaries would be blown out and the National Parks not yet open. Nate described the fishable waters in the area and we excitedly decided to head up for some fishing at what is largely considered the worst month to fish in the Jackson area. We had planned on roughing it and sleeping in a tent in the National Forest but Nate would have none of that. He has a comfortable cabin in Dubois, WY with incredible scenery so we enjoyed his amazing hospitality. Because of my prior experience with Nate, I was confident he could put us on some fish. He found us fishable water and the experience did not disappoint. We floated the Bighorn near Thermopolis and while it was not a spectacular day, we caught some fish and Nate patiently worked with my son as his casting greatly improved. Upon return to the cabin we munched on a few appetizers and had some refreshing beverages while listening to some albums before an expertly prepared dinner. Who knew Nate was a great chef and guide? The next day we fished some high mountain lakes with crystal clear water and some spectacular fishing including a huge brown trout. Nate expertly coached my son and I in the art of casting streamers in the wind to cruising trout. The thing about Nate is that he teaches in a manner that is more consistent with friends chatting rather than an instructor and student. We had a great time while learning and catching fish. After another great evening with spectacular mountain scenery and a comfortable sleep we awoke to stalk some wary trout while wade fishing. It was a tough day with only one trout and a whitefish landed. Most would have written it off as a lost day, but not Nate. He knew I wanted this trip to be special for my son. Long after quitting time he found a place that I will never forget. A small little pool with current coming off a boulder was holding some trout. He put my son on them while I fished a different pool. I watched as he pulled a bunch of feisty rainbows out of that pool on a dry-dropper rig. That last 90 minutes was the icing on top of a fantastic trip at the worst time of the year. If you want to fish with a man that will seem like more of a friend than a guide and stay at a comfortable cabin in and magazine cover setting and find trout enough to satisfy, Nate is your man. I can’t wait until next time. Thanks Nate!

Wow! What an amazing trip! Nate was SO accommodating and the stay at his cabin was so perfect! We learned SO much with Nate over the two stays that we with him. I was an absolute beginner and Nate was incredibly patient and made sure to show me the craft. My husband remotely knew what he was doing, but learned a TON from Nate. We caught MANY fish and learned where to cast and how to cast different ways. We had a wonderful lunch the first day and such a yummy dinner (with buffalo steak and delicious sides!!) with him that night!! The cabin is gorgeous and we enjoyed a few whiskey drinks and amazing conversation and slept wonderfully. When we woke up, we had fantastic coffee and lovely breakfast burritos! We fished the entire next day and learned even more. The stay at the cabin was an absolute PLUS and we very highly recommend it! Nate just has a charismatic and welcoming personality and you will instantly feel comfortable! We highly HIGHLY recommend you going out on a limb and doing the 2-day and stay at the cabin! You won’t regret it!!

When searching Google for fly guides in Jackson Hole there are plenty of options. I have gone with guide companies in the past and you never know who they farm you out to - a new kid on summer break or the person who just quit their day job to try guiding. With Nate though, he is a one man band and this is his career and has been for over 20 years. He took me for one of the best days of fishing in my life. I caught over 25 fish just wading the Snake River in July in Yellowstone National Park. Nate was such a relaxed guide who was up for the adventure. Couldn’t recommend his services high enough m. What a top bloke!

My husband and I recently spent a day wade fly fishing the Firehole River in Yellowstone with Nate. It was the first time fly fishing for both my husband and myself. Nate was an amazing guide! He taught us the basics of fly casting, the different types of flies used and in what conditions to use them. He is a very calm and patient teacher. His ability to read the river, the fish, and the conditions, seems to be entwined into his very being. He is an amazing guide and I recommend spending a day - or two - fishing with the Fly Fishing Whisperer. It was the highlight of our trip!

We had the best time with Nate at Teton Fly Fishing. We booked a whole day trip with Nate when we were in Jackson for our honeymoon this summer. Booking with him was easy- he reached out beforehand and told us what to expect. He provides everything (including a delicious lunch)- all we had to do was buy a fishing license online. We had zero experience, so he spent some time teaching us the basics and how to cast. He was super nice and patient with us. He really just wanted to make sure we had the best experience possible. We caught a bunch of fish and had a really great time chatting with Nate while we floated down the beautiful river. I highly recommend booking with Nate. We know we will again when we come back to Jackson.

We have fished with Nate Bennett a number of times over 15+ years. After the first time, you could say, we were hooked. He is a patient teacher and wealth of knowledge about fishing, and an expert oarsman navigating the Snake. You can tailor a trip to your liking. We have enjoyed trips on the Snake and Salt. You will want to return to enjoy a day with your old fishing buddy. He is an interesting person who is also an artist, cartoonist and craftsman.

We had high expectations for a trip to Jackson Hole to celebrate my dad's retirement. Nate blew our expectations away! We learned, we laughed and we caught a lot of fish. He just gets it-- equal parts knowledgeable and patient, technical and laid back. The float down the Snake River was the most enjoyable day of fishing I can remember. I can't imagine finding a better guide. Hang on to that chicken recipe, Big Nate, and save us a spot at the cabin. Can't wait to get back!
