This was our 2nd time to Yellowstone and our second time having Gaper Guide. First time was the box you had to pickup & plug it. It was great. Now it’s through an APP by GyPsy. Still the same great information, follows you by GPS (make sure you have a usb core to help with your phone battery) much cheaper than renting the box. It was $6.99 total for Yellowstone only compared to $30 A day before. I believe Grand Teton is similar and you can do a combo tour for a little more. So much information & so easy to use. The APP is really a much improved gaper guide, although I had no issues at all with the box prior.

This app is fantastic! It really is like having your own personal tour guide in the car with you. It tells you what is coming up in the next few seconds, interesting facts about the area, and which sites are can't miss. It tells you how long the upcoming trail is and what you will find at the end. "Trailhead on the left for XYZ trail, is a 1.5 mile round trip, a fairly easy hike to the lake which is a good place to relax and have lunch. The is a bathroom at the trailhead."
When you pass by the location next time, it might tell you some different facts, so you won't get bored.
On our 08/2021 trip out west we used the North Yellowstone, and South Yellowstone guides. So excellent! We never listened to the radio the entire time we were in the park. Windows down to hear nature, and the GaperGuide to let us know about what we were seeing and sometimes hearing.

We used the gaperguide for Yellowstone and Grand Tetons a few years ago and it was the best experience. 100% recommend using this guided tour. You learn so much about the history of the parks, the biology, geology and just overall the best places to stop. It's like you are learning all the secrets of the national parks with a private tour guide and wondering how other people are even dealing without it!
We just completed the Beta version for Glacier National Park a few weeks ago and again it is a MUST HAVE!

I purchased the Yellowstone North/South/Grand Tetons bundle. I wish every place I visited had a GaperGuide! So much information. We love hearing about what we were seeing or would see just ahead. Most of the time the GPS tracking was spot on. A few times the tracks overlapped each other so we never heard the end of what one was saying but that was rare. Exploring the parks without this guide would still have been nice but GaperGuide ensured we knew what we were seeing and helped us take side roads we might have otherwise skipped.

We loved gaperguide. Helped us not feel lost and confused driving around. We did both grand Tetons and Yellowstone tour. One example of how great this app is was when we drove over a creek the guide said ‘if you see people on the bridge there is probably a moose.’ And sure enough! We saw a moose!

Don't leave home without gaperguide. It's like having a personal guide right in your car giving you background info and telling where to go. Best thing for our National Parks trip to Grand Teton, and Yellowstone. !

We used GaperGuide for both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, and were thrilled with the detailed science, history, and helpful advice the Will and his team provided. The app worked seamlessly and we had a fabulous time driving around both parks. We would have missed so many interesting things without it!

We rented the GaperGuide so that we could tour Yellowstone National Park. The GaperGuide is a navigation system and personal tour guide in one. We learned so much by using the GaperGuide and saw many attractions that we would have missed had we chosen to tour the park without it. We rented the GaperGuide at our hotel's concierge desk and returned it the next day. I would highly recommend that anyone choosing to have a self guided tour of an attraction rent one of these small gadgets.

Fabulous option for touring Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks at your own pace. Our adult family all appreciated how the Guide knew exactly where we were located and gave advance alert about interesting views or geologic significance to what we were driving by. The knowledge imparted was superbly detailed and researched about nature and touring suggestions. As good as and guided tour in a bus or van. Pick up and drop off a breeze. We wish Mr Ferguson had his service at other touring locations nationally.

We used the GaperGuide for 3 days in Yellowstone and 2 days in the Grand Tetons. It provided more than just directions to the features of the parks. It included the history, the geology and the environment, as well as where we were likely to see which animals. Alerts about upcoming turnouts and picnic areas, and why they were worth a stop, were highly useful. It was like having our own personal tour guide whenever and wherever we drove in the parks. The price was very reasonable for the unit and it was easy to use.

This sounds fabulous and I’m so glad I’ve discovered GG. Is it possible to pick up the GaperGuide in Jackson Hole and return it to a location near Yellowstone West gate? We will arrive in JH on 2 July and will depart YWestGate on the 7th. Are there any discounts currently available? Thanks!
Written June 18, 2018
Yes, places to return Gsperguide outside each gate and the guide will automatically direct you to them.

My friend and I are visiting Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. We're excited to have reserved a Gaperguide.
Can you tell us what vehicles will not accommodate the Gaperguide.
Written September 5, 2017
It plugs into the cigarette lighter/power port. As long as you have that you should be fine.

We are scheduled for a trip into Yellowstone in mid September- we leave Jackson Hole area and drive into Yellowstone for 3 days staying at Canyon Lodge for 2 nights. Do you have a guide for such a trip? First day lower YS and second and third days upper and mid YS - then return to Jackson Hole. Bob Dixon

Hi Bob,
Yes! Our guides cover both parks, and will tell you all about what you are seeing no matter what route you choose. They follow you and give you all the pertinent information about the things you are approaching before you get there so they you will know if you want to stop.
Thanks for your interest!

Does the guide cover Jackson/Jackson Hole? We'll be visiting town for about 1 1/2 days but driving up to Yellowstone and not actually through GTNP. Wondering if it would offer anything while in town. Thank you.

I'm not sure of all the routes that are available for the guide service. Check with their office to find out for sure. They're so very helpful. I'm sure they'll be happy to assist you in getting the tour directions and comments that work for you.
Since Jackson Hole is the area surrounding the town and the valley. There is quite a bit of guided service for the outlying areas. But I'm not sure of the town itself.
Thanks,
Jan
